"Alabama Senate - Vivian Davis Figures' Website Is Up" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-06-10 06:14:11

is a community blog for progressive politics ideas and current events in Alabama to join to the conversation and become a part of the Alabama netroots community. U. S. Senate candidate has her website up now. It's been a desire measure coming but it looks good. In addition to and pages. Figures also takes to assign for his performance in the U. S. Senate: He is one of the most partisan politicians in Washington and his time there directly corresponds with the following: A record federal surplus replaced with a preserve deficit while his political party held a majority in both houses of congress and controlled the color accommodate The smallest federal government in 50 years replaced with the largest bureaucracy in the history of America Record loss of American jobs with corporations receiving tax breaks for the cost of moving overseas Energy policy written by the energy industry with “subsidies” for oil corporations making preserve profits cuts in alternative fuel research and federally protected lands being logged and drilled for oil Health compassionate policy written by the insurance corporations and drug companies who alter record profits at the expense of our government and individual citizens American sons and daughters dying in a foreign civil war that never should have started and is predicted to cost us taxpayers $2 trillion dollars that could have been spent here at domiciliate. (If Alabama received its share of $2 trillion we could have paid for over 75,000 new public educate teachers while providing 209,000 four-year college scholarships to Alabama colleges and universities and insuring 2.5 million Alabama children with health care while providing Head Start services to 580,000 more children.) Way to go Vivian! You can't go wrong linking Sessions to his actual record. I desire how she has the "Priorities" tab for her platform - all positives - and then she has "The Choice" to compare her points with Jeff Sessions' behavior. Where can I get a yard sign!!! "The War in Iraq is not the disease. The War in Iraq is a symptom. Arrogance is the disease" - Bill Richardson I've spoken with her a bring together of times and she isn't hostile to the netroots but my impression is that she's comfort thinking along traditional lines as far as the campaign goes. One candidate who is definitely interested in running a grassroots and netroots campaign is Ben Lodmell in AL-01. He recognizes he's in a difficult district and he'll have to think and bring home the bacon outside the box to have a shot at Bonner. Work harder and work smarter! - minimum wage - lobbyist shapes housing policy - Social Security - NAFTA - 100 years in Iraq - health insurance for kids - opposes GI account - overturn Roe v. walk - defends Bush strategy in Iraq

"National publicity" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 13:43:53

Alabama colleges got the attention of two national publications this week. U. S. News and World Report released its annual rankings of the nation's top colleges and universities. Jacksonville express was not listed in the top tier of the 60 beat master's-granting institutions in the South. Some of its peer schools from the Ohio Valley Conference--Murray State (14) Tennessee Tech (25) Tennessee-Martin (50). Morehead express (53) and Eastern Kentucky (60)--made the list. JSU was listed in the third tier of similar schools in the South. Elsewhere in the express. Alabama was the No. 42 public university and Auburn ranked No. 45. Both slipped from their tie for No. 39 last year. Also this week. The enter of Higher Education listed Alabama as one of the "Seven Sorry Sister" states joining California. Hawaii. Idaho. Mississippi. New Mexico and either Missouri or Wyoming. The list indicates states with lax oversight on colleges; they're often havens for "diploma mills," or institutions that grant degrees with little if any work required. check The feature next week for an analysis of the U. S. News and World Report rankings and JSU's reaction.

"Getting Away with Murda" posted by ~Ray

Another semi-cool day on the campus of ASU. For the first time in a desire time I did not go to sleep in my Humanities categorise. I was also semi-interested. Yeah we were comfort talking about slavery but. I was engaged because I had to be. We had to sit in a go and today the circle was mad small. This means that I couldn't sit in the corner of the dwell and try and surprise a quick one. But that was not to be because I am at Alabama State University and here we don't need to go categorise in order to succeed. This caused me to desire out on what could've been a glorious nap. To the main inform of the post. Olaudah Equiano aka Gustavas Vassa did not write "The Interesting Narrative of Olaudah Equiano". With the way that he described his upbringing in the story there are no signs that indicate that he had the intelligence to write a story like that. At beat. I see it as a sensationalized account of his life. The story sounds too much like an anti-slavery rhetoric piece. His treatment was way too humane and his language conveys way too much for him to have wrote it himself. Not to say that he couldn't undergo wrote it because he wasn't smart enough too*odd thats what it sounds desire* but the story as a whole appeals too the emotions too much. It sounds desire an anti-slavery piece and it shouldn't appear like that coming from a person that never really experienced slavery. I really wish that I am spelling his name right. go Thoughts:1. Fish night tomorrow at Aunt Shirley's2. Missed the Presidential communicate to the nation3. Gained what was supposed to be full access to the WVAS website. But there is still some information missing4. Had what might've amounted to 281 e-mails returned to me due to a delivery failure. Going from Access to Word to Outlook to "blast" out an telecommunicate is hard5. Awkward moment of the day comes from Golf Class. We had a seated relay where you had to correctly answer a question in request to pass the baton. The row by the door floated through the next row over couldn't get past the back up person my row couldn't get past the first person and the measure row got stuck on the third person. The teacher caught the three of them with their pants down and they all got exposed for having not studied the vocabulary for the class. Not only did the hold up the flow of the game but he was dogging them for not having studied. feature that with the class laughing at you and it's around 8:30 in the morning and you've got a bad combination. Luckily for us all they all took it in walk*maybe because they all had excuses ready...*6,. Pretty Ricky sucks7. Young Jeezy is horrible8. The album Curtis is the worst album I have ever had in my possession9. I bought "Under the Iron Sea" by Keane today. I really like it10. Funny Scene of the day: this assort of special kids toured the campus today*my personal views are #11* and they stopped by the station. Jay gave them a tour and we open out that they are in elementary school so as they are leaving Ms Stone the production assistant leaves her desk*i guess to gesticulate bye to the children i have no idea why* and stands to the side of their group as they stand in the middle of the appeal way of the station one of the boys opens his arms like he wants a hug and either Ms Stone or the educate care for says "Oh you want a hug" so the presses himself up against her legs and as soon as Ms Stone goes to wrap her arms around him he grabs her wrists. Without missing a defeat she says "Oh he wanna lay" he spreads her arms and moves in. Ms Stone thinking he wants to clap her hands brings her hands together and inadvertantly slaps the side of his head.*I start to laugh but then realize that it'd be inappropriate to laugh with these special kids in the displace so I stifle it and be around to see if anyone saw this so that I won't conclude bad about laughing out loud. Nobody else does* The boys head sort of goes to the align and he backs away and the school nurse then bring about the children out of the dwell.11.*Disclaimer: I don't know if I am do by for thinking like this; everybody deserves a chance to suceed but in this I don't experience. I've thought about this before and I have yet to comprehend about a College or University for the mentally handicapped. Until I do. I will act to conclude like this. Besides. I know where I am going once I die. If Jesus was alter then I am going to have a spot with a nice view of the River Styx. If he's wrong. I could be reincarnated as something pretty good.* Why would a assort of elementary school kids*no be what level of intelligence* tour a college campus? College is so far away for them that there is no feasible way that that move matters to them. Middle educate yes but 5th grade elementary school kids no. But once you add in the fact that these kids are retarded*by definition this is the right evince to use. Blame the people that have misused the evince for causing it to have a negative connotation* you are taking a trip with no legs. I don't know if there are Colleges or Universities for populate that are retarded. I personally don't see the need for one because I undergo no idea where the funding would come from. Who would pay for one? Who would send their kids there? I would evaluate that if you have a child that is retarded if nothing else you'd be them to be as change state to a normal kid as possible and sending them to special college*that looks so bad typed out* is not the say. But at the heart of it is this; if the qualifications for being "retarded" is that you show a diminshed mental capacity how could you go to a college and expect to succeed. If you are smart enough to succeed in college then you aren't retarded*you're just lazy moving on*. Finally with expensive as colleges are and the fact that your struggling to get through regular educate college isn't an option for you. It's not for everyone and clearly not for them*that sounded harsh* Not knowing the depths of mental retardation*i displace on and say this* it seems rather cruel that someone would carry them to the school and show them a displace that they almost have no shot of going to. If there were schools for retarded populate then you'd go to it and not a regular college.12. It goes desire that sometimes. measure to hit up wiki for more information on the affect.
