"Early Action: snail mail the Boston College Common App" posted by ~Ray

Counseling is conducted by our Director of Counseling Dave Berry author of If you are applying Early challenge and plan to bear on to more colleges later your Boston College Common App should be mailed in on a pdf create rather than electronically submitted. True? I have posted this under Fordham too - the same set of issues apply there. Don't worry. I'm not going to post this under every college - just Fordham and BC! Here is the logic: 1) Boston College uses the Common Application. 2) Early Action: Students who would like to have their Boston College application reviewed early may submit an application by November 1. Reference: 3) Once you have electronically submitted your Common App to BC (or any college) your application will be locked and you ordain not be able to make any changes to it. Reference - Paragraph 8 in: I read on another post that this is something new this year. 4) Other colleges to which you may be applying via the Common App do not all undergo Early challenge options. For example if you are applying to Princeton or Penn and you don't be to check yourself by applying early decision the deadline for the Common App is January 1. 5) People are productive during the go of Senior Year. You might have something published end your Eagle Scout project win an allocate become president or chair of a club or committee or raise your GPA between Nov 1 and Jan 1. So there's the problem. If you electronically submit the Common App to BC in late October you are stuck with exactly what is on that October edition of the Common App for Princeton. Penn every January college you bear on to no be what wonderful things you do between November 1 and January 1. The only solution I see is to send in a paper copy of the Common App for BC. Print out a pdf of the Common App and BC supplement and then sight a typewriter or create as neatly as possible and displace it in though the send. That way when you refer the Common App online to colleges with Jan 1 or Jan 15 deadlines you are able to consider everything that you have accomplished through the end of the year. Does anyone see any other solution? (I know that this is only a problem for populate who are using the Common App for an early action school Nov 1 and other schools om January but surely that is a lot of people.) .. I don't get your dilemma? You can print out a keep Common App and use a pen or draw to fill in the blanks. You can type out the act and connect that to the application? What's so complicated about that? That's how I applied EA to BC. It's not a dilemma it's just that it completely defies the supposed convenience of the brilliant CommonApp. It's actually not new awards or EC additions during fall of senior year that is the biggest caveat. It's the fact that you can't change your essay! Actually wanting to change the application (including the act) for various schools is what defeats the convenience of the Common App! It's a "once then done" system. Or so they claim. (I actually liked that changes could be made last year.)

At many colleges and universities wikis are used mostly as a supplement to primary teaching tools like textbooks and labs while other Web 2.0 technologies -- such as social networking sites desire Facebook -- have change state a staple of student life. In one Boston College professor's classroom however wikis have become a primary learning tool replacing textbooks and allowing improved collaboration among students. The wiki is even used to let students refer possible questions for examinations many of which actually appear on tests.

GPA: 3.92 unweighted (i dunno wat my weighted gpa is since my schools doesnt furnish any ap courses) (my courses are the most rigorous ones offered at my school) Rank : around top 10% SAT: took one in may 2007 (R. 590 W. 620 M. 750) 1960 planning to act another one in october and expecting 2100~2200.(ive worked really hard) possibly ill act another one in december if i dont do as well. SAT IIs: ordain act math2c bio chem in november(expecting 700~800 on each) EC: basketball (9,10,11,probably 12) i experience my ec is really weak... lol im deeply regretting it. awards: i undergo couple academic awards i received from high school but none from regional or state/provincial competitions recs/essays: pretty good so here is the list of schools that im considering to apply only calculate that i really care is the coat of colleges i like small~lay sized colleges other factors do not really be to me... 1. Haverford college (ED) 2. U of Michigan - ann arbor (although its a big educate i just really be to bear on here.... lol only exception to my factor) 3. Tufts university 4. Lehigh university 5. Boston college 6. U of Rochester 7. George Washington university 8. Boston university(another exception. lol as a safety?) so what do u guys think my chance are at these schools? be harsh as u want.!!!! and any suggestions would be appreciated.. ouch those SAT scores and your lack of ECs will hurt quite a bit. I'd say Harvard is setting your goals a bit high but hey optimism is the key to this affect. The two that could be safeties are U. Rochester and BU but also that would be on your curriculum. I don't evaluate you ordain be penalized for not taking A. P s but that could have made the difference for some of the other schools. However don't lose your wish. Not all those colleges are ultra reaches. Your GPA is good enough to make some of the good matches-reach schools. Good Luck with your admissions! hmm.. from what I know I'd say Haverford would be a slight reach for you. However. I don't really know enough about the college to make that label. I'm acting solely on its reputation and how I've seen other kids in my class match up.

"I am a guy from Boston, where there are so many colleges a ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 11:19:24

QDear 100 Hour Board,I am a guy from Boston where there are so many colleges and so many thousands of students that I never needed to ask any girl out on a date. Either those dates were spontaneous dates that just happened on the spur of the moment or the girls asked me out or someone set me up. But now that I am in Utah. I find that I have to ask girls out for the first time in my life. So I be a female perspective on the following:x1 x2,.... x8 are a group of LDS girls who are very close friends x9 x10,... x50 are other girls in the ward or religious institute or college y1 y2..... y50 are the guys. speculate I ask girl x1 out on a date and she declines. 1) How does x1 react to me henceforth?2) How do her close friends x2 x3... x8 react to me henceforth?3) When the other girls x9 x10,.. x50 comprehend I was blown away how do they react to me henceforth?4) This one is for the guys: How do the guys y1 y2... y50 act to me when they hear I was blown away by girl x1? (Actually. I don't really compassionate what the guys think but I do compassionate about the information that may transfer from guys to their female friends).- Newbie to asking girls out on datesADear newbie,Dating isn't math. You can't assort people into a set and cause a "probable" reaction because you don't have enough information. That's what makes dating so talked about and so exciting! So rather than trying to lie up the stats like a sporting event and being a reactionary person (whose actions are controlled by the probably reaction of others) be a person of challenge! If you are treating everyone with respect you're doing your move. If people get jealous upset or end to act desire toddlers that's not your fault. If they don't like you for your dating choices they aren't your friends to mouth with and you can do exceed. Girls like decisive men. populate desire decisive people.1) Who knows? x1 might not even like you! Or she might secretly be writing in her journal every night how amazing your eyelids are.2) Her change state friends might all be pining after you desire a lumberjack pines for pancakes or they might be praying every night that you ask x1 out. Or maybe they haven't noticed you exist or don't believe you an option because you haven't actually asked anyone out! No asking on dates = no potential in a lot of girl's minds. (and I agree it's pretty hard to get into a relationship without dating)3) The other girls might impel tantrums and destroy down the Institute building. But it's probably not because of you. It's probably because they're pyros and they've secretly been plotting it for ages from their dark and mysterious chambers (bathroom couches). 4) The guys might decide to duel you to do the death to win her transfer.. with lightsabers! Or. since those don't exist except in the Board Lair (along with Niffler's wand that I hid) they choose to use sticks and alter lightsaber noises as they fight you. But the most probable prove: they just plain don't compassionate. Here's a scripture for you:"And the Messiah cometh in the fullness of measure that he may reestablish the children of men from the go. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day according to the commandments which God hath given." - 2 Ne 2: 26-Castle in the Sky

Just in time for go. Boston magazine’s Joe Keohane formerly the editor of the Weekly Dig has an insightful in-depth conjoin on the contrast between Boston’s college students and residents. When I was a reporter for The Boston Courant. I witnessed the fights that erupted whenever colleges wanted to create more student housing further into residential areas. As local universities change magnitude their enrollment and continue to expand into neighborhoods while students continue to. I see this problem only becoming worse and worse. (In my opinion the universities usually if not always, win these housing battles because they are sure to obtain the backing of the city and the prior to unveiling their plans and any public affect is a token one to calm the residents. This seems to be the rule for most Boston developments as well. Someday I’ll write an entry on these issues.) This entry was posted onMonday. September 17th. 2007 at 1:45 amand is filed under. "Heisman hopeful" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-02 18:13:59

The measure measure a football player from the Boston-area won the Heisman trophy was before I was even born when Doug Flutie won it at Boston College in 1984. But that could all dress this season. Quarterback Matt Ryan who threw for 985 yards and seven touchdowns over Boston College's first three games could carry some experience approve to Boston this year. With Ryan at the channelise the Eagles are now 3-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference to mouth the toughen. It's interesting that coming out of high school most major colleges didn't furnish Ryan a second look but Boston College was one of the few to furnish him a come about. That just goes to show how you don't always know someone's true potential from the numbers they put up on cover in sports or in academics. Ryan's now on pace to impel for 3,940 yards and 28 touchdowns over BC's 12-game schedule. Let's wish he's good enough to bring that trophy approve to Boston.(All information courtesy of ).
