Wow! It’s not everyday that you see a study state university being placed on probation for not being rigorous enough (or in this case proving that they are). I experience I’ve already posted a blog for the day but bear with me. I’d like to get first spin on things ;-)
Texas Tech has been placed on probation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) one of the 6 regional accrediting bodies in the United States. Of course Texas Tech denies that their accreditation is in any real danger but instead claim that they did not have their documentation in order by the time of the review however it does look strange to see a school the coat and stature as that of Tech’s being placed on probation or at least I evaluate so. Honestly I think that they’re fine but I did want to take a minute to demonstrate here for a moment that it is not only the “for acquire” schools that are placed on probation such as American Intercontinental University but also some of the big guys. So before anyone thumbs their nose at a “for acquire” university citing the case of AIU as has been done in the past now those in be of a rebuttal need look no advance than Texas Tech.
Am I happy about this? Honestly I can say a little bit but here’s why. It demonstrates a little equality in regulating the playing field for everyone from the big guys to the little guys in the world of accreditation. It also shows that the system appears to be alive and come up. Lastly it shows that no matter how big you get your standards need to be there consistently to keep that accreditation.
As for Tech? They’ll be book and I am admittedly something of a fan of their football team so I’m pulling for them in the desire run.
I was surprised when I heard this on the news yesterday but I agree with what you said. It shows that the accrediting bodies are watching the "big boys" too. I'm a big Red Raider fan also. One of my nephews is there alter now. And I am actually named after a former Miss TTU from the late 50's (when my parents were there). Though I did not attend college there. I've always thought about finishing my degree there (before I got into the legal secretary field).
