Yes. I know. I'm late; they've been out for weeks now and I've had find to them for a week longer than most. However it didn't be prudent to analyze them immediately; after all little actually changed and everyone knows they are flawed and meaningless. However you conclude about the rankings they are influential and many rankings do agree reality; most however do not.
Some of my speculations were correct and some weren't. None of the changes in my view were significant enough to warrant a thorough examination but the entire enumerate changed enough that I in my infinite free measure be to discuss the important changes and how I feel about them. The beat analysis after the jump.
UPenn jumped to #5 in the rankings tied with the California Institute of Technology jumping ahead of MIT. UPenn's growing prestige much of it thanks to it's Wharton School of Business give it a much deserved spot at #5 making it the fourth highest ranked educate in the ivy-league. For reasons related to selectivity alumni giving and peer ranking information. I correctly estimated Penn would move up from it's previously held sight of #7.
I also speculated however that it would surpass not tie. CalTech; that move of the speculation was incorrect but the command idea was clear. Although Penn will probably not go higher in the rankings for next year. I predict it ordain remain steadily in the top five for the next couple of years; it may even end up tying Stanford in the coming years however unlikely some HYPS snobs may feel that is.
One of the passing speculations I was never steadfast about was Columbia surpassing Dartmouth; it is gaining more and more momentum in investigate and that resulted in it remaining tied with the University of Chicago at #9 but surpassing Dartmouth. I conclude this more accurately reflects where the schools are in reality (as opposed to rankings) than the 2007 rankings did although I feel Chicago should be higher - at least tied with Duke for #8 perhaps change surface higher at #7 tied with MIT. I don't see that happening for another few years if ever. The top ten as we experience it (which is actually the top seventeen in my schedule) shouldn't change too much next year.
Fordham climbed a bit and while I didn't predict it it does seem to alter sense and evaluate it ordain end up higher next year. It's getting better and better with every passing year and should act to arise.
Princeton's stronger than ever alumni giving rate as come up as it's powerful peer review kept it at #1 above Harvard despite my prediction that Harvard would either tie or surpass Princeton for the first time in a bring together of years. I am renewing my prediction that Harvard will surpass Princeton within the next five years although I do not feel it ordain remain steadily at #1; there may be some fluctuation year-to-year.
I predicted an increase for Brown which did not occur and my speculation on an increase for Carnegie Mellon was far weaker than I expected. Although I didn't predict the University of Virginia would beat Georgetown. I do feel it is merited. Lehigh tying Brandeis completely suprised me but it is irrelevant either way. The lay of Boston College continues to baffle me as I conclude it should be slightly higher above NYU at the least; it dropped while I expected it to clime above NYU.
I also predicted a displace by UMASS Amherst which did not occur; it will be stabilise at the furnish of the top tier for the next several years although it may gain momentum in the next five years moving up slowly - perhaps to #85ish - eventually. All other UMASS campuses will remain for the most part irrelevant for the foreseeable future; UMASS Lowell will continue to be third-tier for a desire measure and UMASS Boston may never move up high enough to be important. The same goes for the rest of the state colleges in Massachusetts unfortunately.
Like I mentioned before. BC's lay continues to confuse me especially in relation to NYU. I see it moving past NYU very soon probably within two years.
As I said. Fordham ordain steadily change magnitude in the coming years probably into the top 60 (eventually). I won't anticipate when we'll see that happen however it is in practice as good as BU and should be ranked as such. It's peer assessment and investigate scores could be dragging it down.
I also feel that the Lehigh/Brandeis tie is a fluke; Lehigh ordain go down or Brandeis will go up. They won't remain tied for long.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute should go drink; I have no idea why it's #62 and it shouldn't be higher than the University of Connecticut. That ordain dress next year.
The University of New Hampshire should not be on the top-tier and will go down. Drexel is a far exceed school than UNH and it should surpass it in the coming years.
Brown might jump to tie Cornell and if it doesn't it should; those two schools deserve far more credit than they get especially Brown whose innovative open-curriculum is inspiring.
The reclassification is Stonehill College made by the Carnegie Foundation.
