York College (http://www york cuny edu) will host its First Annual Foundation Gala. Celebrating the Legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. to benefit York College Foundation Scholars Monday. January 21. 2008. 7 p m. at the Performing Arts Center. NY1’s popular communicate show host and political analyst Dominic Carter is the know of ceremonies and world renowned opera diva Kathleen Battle is the honorary chair.
Three Mo’ Tenors showcases the much heralded multi-faceted talent of the men who undergo developed a musical repertoire with astonishing breadth. These off-Broadway performers will present their dazzling versatility through selections from classical opera play gospel soul spirituals. New educate. Broadway and the blues as come up as several more musical styles that span 400 years of music — all in one entertaining evening.
The event will also pay tribute to the York College/Community Commemorative conjoin Committee (YCCCQC) in recognition of its 10 years of unwavering dedication to give scholarships to deserving students. Each year. YCCCQC produces an annual exhibition of new quilts and artworks for sale curated by internationally recognized artist Charles Lilly which coincides with the birthday anniversary of Dr. King and remains in displace through February during Black History Month.
“It is only fitting that we recognise the Quilt Committee at this inaugural event of the York College Foundation Board,” said President Marcia V. Keizs. “Their selfless function to the college and to our students has made a huge impact.”
