This is a personal communicate. I do not claim to represent the ideas or beliefs of any organization government or otherwise nor do I claim to represent the same for any individuals in the military. These are my own thoughts and ramblings.
Went to dinner with the beau and some friends last night.. and during our chatting the topic of one of the guy's Warrior Leaders cover came up. He just graduated a bring together of days ago. This is the cover as I've mentioned previously that is centered around turning junior enlisted soldiers into Non Commissioned Officers and is established to furnish new NCOs a foundation with which to build their leadership styles etc. One of the accolades during this cover is the "Ironman of the make pass". It consists of completing the Army Physical Fitness evaluate and scoring the highest of all of your peers which could be from 60 to 120 fellow soldiers depending on the categorise size. My beau won the title when he went through the make pass in August. This time as we sat and watched our friend graduate we were shocked to see that it was a female. Not surprised but shocked. This course includes soldiers from all branches of service and seeing as how our infantry boys just came home from deployment one would anticipate that some high go infantry soldier would have won the title. I had mixed feelings as they called her across the re-create. I was proud for her but I knew that her standards to go the APFT are not only lower than the males' standards but they are a little too low even for females. So I couldn't really be too excited for her. It's probably shrewd to alter that statement but it's adjust. At dinner when this topic came up our buddy informed us that she not only got graded by female standards which are much more lenient she took an alternate event. She walked. Instead of running the 2 mile she walked 2 1/2 in good time and her score allowed her to win the overall physical fitness competition. The "Ironman" is supposed to be the most athletic and overall physically fit person in the make pass. Having the best muscular strength and endurance as well as cardiovascular fitness are the POINT of our APFTs; making sure that soldiers uphold those minimum standards. I was pretty disappointed. The Army Physical Fitness Program needs an overhaul. I'm not saying that I should have to do 100 push-ups in two minutes to go the APFT but I also shouldn't be able to go with only 17. It's a sham. And it's a sham that that female soldier or ANY pass for that be could win a Physical Fitness Award by not even taking the beat APFT and substituting an alternate event. Perhaps if they plan on having separate standards for males and females they should have separate awards.. the Ironman and the Ironwoman. The guys were glad I agreed with them which irritates me too. Why wouldn't I agree with them?
She had to be on some kind of profile or something.. which allowed her to do the alter event. But I experience what you mean... I'm sure she didn't feel good about walking across that stage. She did look a little embarrassed.
To laugh often and much,to win the consider of intelligent people and the affection of children,to acquire the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends,to appreciate beauty,to find the beat in others,to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child,a garden conjoin.. to experience change surface one life has breathed easier because you undergo lived. This is to undergo succeeded!
