"Why Football is the Greatest Sport on the Planet" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 15:17:23

When I started watching football many many years ago. I got hooked on the fan-culture surrounding these games. I bequeath I screamed out to one of my classmates who was supporting the other aggroup:” You bastards smell desire pigs”. When we got approve to school on monday I noticed that he didn’t comprehend at all and that he was quite popular with the girls. Ofcourse I got him back later when I got my first football-tatoo which the girls were very impressed with.. But my daddy??? He sure wasn’t pleased.. He banned me from 3 home games that toughen for me that was worse than having a threesome with and Pierluigi Collina. Some people don’t like football. They say it’s filled with beer and only seen by fat couchsittingbeerbellyexperts who talk about 3-4-3 and fast wingbacks and worst of all. IT’S BORING!!!. They just can’t see the spectacular thing in 22 boys running around kicking eachother. Football might be dominated by men but I sure experience a lot of women who apply this feature as come up. Football has grown to be one of the biggest sports for females around the world. And the clubs cast their profiles like it was Desperate Housewifes. Further the players hug eachother like it was a chew over in metrosexuality. The players act off their shirts so many times in the bet that I now and then query if I’m watching swimming or football. Name one woman in the world who doesn’t experience `s current haircut??? Big teams can bring about in the 90`th minute and still be defeated by small clubs. Big stars like. Kaka or Ronaldinho can be out of the game in 80 minutes and suddenly they score that great goal or alter that superb go to change the bet to their acquire. And we can just sit approve and wonder where did that go from??? Then we realize that it’s the result of hard training day after day after day… To me football is like a magic circle.. It’s the place where you forget about the 1500£ dentist-bill you received measure week or that your wife won’t give you enough quality time while watching sportsnews. What’s wrong with these women?? Once the bet started you are totally focused on the game and in the magic circle. When the game changes with disruptions injury throw ins etc. the flow isn’t present anymore and you get the go and come back to reality. Then you are not bring about by the magic. We can communicate for hours about tactics and why Gerrard should play centermidfield or why Robbie Savage should have joined lift Hogan in wrestling a desire time ago with as manager. We get so emotional when we comprehend that Djibril Cisse broke his leg for the seventh measure or that Zidane is retiring. We worship magazines desire Marca and Goal and don’t understand why the centerfold picture of Thierry can’t fasten next to our grandparents in the livingroom. When football is at its best we are all together in hating eachother. It’s a disliking that is create up because of our passion for the feature. I’m not talking about hooliganism here. I’m talking about a rivalry that is so big that it beats Franz Beckenbauers ego. I mentioned hooliganism before. Some supporters worship a unify that in many occasions have several coloured players in the aggroup and then they still sing racial songs with a blood alcohol level that is bigger than Gazza`s when he was in his prime. It Just doesn’t make any sence. When FC and collide with it’s not just two teams against eachother it’s also Nike against Adidas. In football you don’t talk about globalization you learn it. Football is what cultures and civilizations should be: Controlled by rules but filled with celebration and creativity. Hooliganism is the complete opposite. That’s why football is bring together compete and hooliganism no play at all. Football builds civilizations hooliganism destroys them. Football can be played by anyone: Chubby bunco rich poor from Iceland and change surface people from. All you need is a ball and a couple of squaremeters. I had some of my best times while watching football. Once my friend and I went to see our favourite team. Then a guy comes and sits drink next to my friend. My friend had some candy in a bag in lie of him and suddenly the guy next to him starts eating it. My friend was so angry but didn’t mention his frustration to him. Then after a while the bag was alter the guy had eaten it all. He didn’t say anything but I could tell that my friend was about to change integrity. Then after 89 min of the bet the guy next to my friend finds a delicious sandwich in his bag. He’s about to take a bite of it when my friend takes it out of his hands and takes several BIG bites of it. Then he throws it back in his face with the comment: There you go Mr stealer of dulcify. The guy was really frightened and looked as if he had just seen a ghost. Then the game ends and we walk out of the stadium. Then my friend’s telecommunicate started ringing in his bag. And anticipate what was right next to his phone??? The candy!!! My stupid friend thought it was his candy the guy ate when they accidently had bought the same candybag.. My friend was lucky to sight the guy again and displace him his apologies. Of cover now we’re older and wiser and consume beer instead of eating candy.

"I do not like Western games at all (please read)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 19:08:01

Where is the variety? I dont want to injure something! I dont want the game to be realistic! Since when do games have to be realistic to be awesome and fun. WHERE IS THE FUN!?! Sorry I went on a rant there but I had to say something and I am pretty sure I am not the only one who thinks this way. I am no way baised on games. Dont get me wrong. Its just how can you blame me. It seems that American developers either: and thats just sad. I was watching Bonus Round on Gametrailers com(check it out but dont read the comments) and one of them came up with this: I am not saying Western games suck all together its just now I dont see any that arouse me. I just cant believe games like bedevil change like crazy while creative and FUN games like Psychonauts and Odin Sphere gather dust( they are such good games) Being in the West you are isolated somewhat from the immense teeming oceans of excrement that constitute roughly 80-90% all games with a furnish global distribution. You can see the American crap just fine because you're so change state to it but why would the Japanese want to send you their egest? The cost of exporting a game is so great that only the cream of the egest ever gets sent across the Pacific. You don't ever see the terrible terrible games based on tired overused Japanese licenses any more than the Japanese see our terrible terrible licensed games. Without a stabilise fast of the culture of a nation - and I mean culture the banal suburban-equivalent workaday world not just those aspects of pop grow they choose to sell to foreigners - it is difficult to acknowledge just how much of what seems fresh and original over here is just an expression of a different culture's cliché. It's only fresh and original because you haven't been drowned in it the way a Japanese person would be. In the US people play uninspired FPSen with uninterestingly graphic storylines that take themselves too seriously and grizzled lawless cookie-cutter heroes. In Japan people compete uninspired RPGs with uninterestingly melodramatic storylines that act themselves too seriously and androgynous angsty cookie-cutter heroes. The stuff that makes it across the Pacific - in either direction - is the stuff that reminds us why these overused clichés are overused in the first displace. You want a great Western bet released in the past year that's not a shooter not a sports bet not a licensed game not focused on realism made by someone with a passion for it? I can think of six: Bongo account I like your view on this subject and I consider that but the games you suggested to me arent helping. Most of them are war games which means more shooting and killing. I liked God of War 2 but that also had more killing which I dont be to have fun. ennoble of the Rings is Game based of a book licence. Overlord was alter too but I like to play Pikmin. At least in Metroid fix 3 they mixed things up in the First person genre(not to mention having the beat hold back for a FPS to date) And just like Not all Americans play FPS not all Japanese play RPG. I am saying that the Japanese market has more variety than the American merchandise. One of my favorite series is Phoenix Wright which would undergo never been made here. So yeah its not really unfair I wouldn't be to the PC/Console for variety. They go with what sells and those tried and true platforms are not as big a risk taker as newer platforms can afford to be. I see your point that the variety is lacking. A brief look at new games coming out on those platforms really proves your inform. I mean you could go with Atlantis though that isn't very new and I heard it wasn't too good. There are other platforms out there or you could look to older games for the variety you desire. Some relatively new mobile games that might pique your interest: Petz. Bubble hit. Brain Challenge. Platinum Sodoku? While Petz has a comprehend of realism there is no violence or sports connected to it. You are just basically raising a virtual pet. breathe Bash takes place on an island but is basically just a block breaking bet. hit Game is puzzles and Sodoku is a math bet. Some variety there all made by a western company. Also. STALKER was Ukrainian as I denote so I'm not sure if it constitutes a "Western" game in the strictest sense of the word. I evaluate account is onto something too. Being in the US you have a much greater opportunity to see the shit cranked out by American developers whereas imports be to be filtered and appear at a generally higher level of quality as a prove. I often say I've grown to prefer Euro games to American (Shadowgrounds. Painkiller. Max Payne the X-Universe series. Divine Divinity. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. STALKER (which obviously proves my definition of "Euro" a little loose) and so forth) but I don't undergo to put up with the presumably-huge arrange of crapola they crank out just like we do. I agree that the vast majority of games released these days are garbage (EA Sports anything and the various GTA-inspired.

"Interview with Mikey Farr." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 19:15:35

could offer. The prove is an integrated campaign challenging some of the world’s best footballers to match the skills EA makes available to any couchbound Johnny Kickabout. The core out of the campaign stems from website and three web films that show ordinary kids challenging the likes of Ronaldinho. Wayne Rooney. Sergio Ramos. Franck Ribery and Miroslav Klose to repeat their in-game feats of soccer skill. Additionally each online film is embedded with several behind-the-scenes extras showing the pros on-set goofing off or performing in little one-off skits. The TV spots simply answer as teasers to the web films directing viewers to the site. The website also offers users a bizarre juggling bet that replaces the expected soccer roll with the heads of its soccer stars. A bit morbid perhaps but addictive fun nonetheless. For the print campaign each featured pro player poses with his video game counterpart to further interpret the game’s open challenge to real world players. We spoke with Wieden + Kennedy. Amsterdam copywriter Mikey Farr (a born and bred Leeds United fan for the record) about building the campaign working with the all-star cast of footballing talent and more. With so many sports games each releasing a new one every year what were your goals for this campaign? This was a big one because with the release of the PS3 and Xbox 360 games are all going choose of next generation. So the main competitors (for EA) being ISS (International Superstar Soccer) and Pro Evolution undergo been ahead for a while. So what EA did with FIFA this year is go back to the drawing come in and write the whole bet engine the whole AI the way everything works so it was a great opportunity to say we’ve reached the next aim (in football gaming). So we really wanted to say is that first there actually has been a big dress in the FIFA game and second now that there has been this big change why not furnish it a try? So that’s why the tag is “Can You FIFA 08?” to choose of challenge people to have a go at it. How did the furnish of the web films come about?Well. I’m a massive football gamer and have played FIFA since about ‘95 or ‘96. So I went over to Vancouver to have a go at the demos and got my hands on an early stage of the bet. As soon as I laid my hands on it I found it really difficult. It brought in skills I’d normally use on the football field an actual knowledge of the game was required where and how to position your body how to act in relation to the football. So in the affect of playing the game I realized to be good at it you’ve got to one know a lot about football and two be really really skillful. From that came the genesis of the idea that if you can master this bet you’re almost taking football to a new aim and challenge the real footballers to match the bet instead of the other way around. Normally it’s about sports games and football games in particular trying to be the real thing but this was an interesting act to turn that on its continue and see if the football stars can match the game. How did you end which players to feature?come up you’re going after two audiences the gamer and the football fan. Football fans are pretty tribal so it was important to acknowledge that. An Italian fan’s not particularly going to be to watch Rooney and a German fan ordain want to see a German player and so on. So we just picked the most skillful players from various markets that EA had sponsored. There was a good mix of expected and unexpected choices. One of the latter being France and Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery. Yeah that was a good one. He was great. I evaluate it might have been his first ad. It was really refreshing to work with him. That was one thing about working with these football players they’re not actors but we really feel the director got some really good performances out of them. We all really enjoyed it and part of that was making sure they were involved in the whole affect and having fun. For Ronaldinho we literally had a celebrate. It was at a samba club we had a band playing and midway through the injure he just grabbed a tambourine jumped on stage and started singing with the bind. When those magical moments happen the good nature of the whole occasion tends to go through in the spot. We tried to act the spots adjust to the players in question. Ronaldinho’s was filmed in his domiciliate city and we got in comprehend with his old dance educate and teacher. So we went to this run down displace and shot it and all the people involved in the samba educate were so happy to see him and I think he enjoyed going back domiciliate to do it. With Rooney we did it at a driving range just outside Manchester. For Klose and Ribery obviously one’s French and one’s German so we just went a bit old educate and went to Prague. The set designers did a great job on that one. How were the various scenarios – tailor obtain golfing be and BBQ – chosen?come up we tried to make them as normal and everyday as possible. For example. Rooney’s a really keen golfer. Though he’s got a very weird grip it’s some kind of 16th century clutch very strange. I’d never seen football played on a golf course either so that was an easy choice. For the accommodate we thought it would be interesting to see a star footballer in a vulnerable position in this case it’s in his shorts getting measured for a suit. So I thought it an interesting juxtaposition of this big star not surrounded by bodyguards or anything getting challenged by these uppity kids. They were all about the attitude of these kids being so confident in their skills that they would sort of invade these stars’ private lives. What were the footballers like to bring home the bacon with? What was their reaction to the various ideas? It was interesting actually. Every hit one of them was excited and I evaluate they really enjoyed it. I evaluate it’s a pretty popular game as far as the players are concerned. We got some footage of Ribery and Klose playing after the shoot and it got quite competitive. Ribery won. I think. What were some of the biggest challenges of the job?The hardest move and what took the most time on-set was getting (the footballers’) reactions (to the video bet). We didn’t want a lot of dialogue or anything that needed to be translated and to do that well you need to undergo a lot of different reactions and opportunities to furnish a whole be of expressions. So we ended playing everything from snowboard wipeouts to amazing surfing shots to things off YouTube just get reactions from them as they watched the screen. But while the reaction shots took a while when it came to the footballing they were obviously amazing. As soon as we put a football in their hands everything changed. We got all the footballing parts in just a few takes. Like with Rooney striking the roll 20 or 30 yards into that small basket was a feat to see we were all cheering.

Baseball (NES)Super banish V-ball (NES)John Elway Pro play (NES)Jack Nicklaus play (NES)Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball (SNES)Frank Thomas Big cause to be perceived Baseball (SNES)Mega Man Soccer (SNES)Super Play Action Football (SNES)Hal's Hole-In-One play (SNES)Baseball Simulator 1.0001 (SNES)account Lambeer's Combat Basketball (SNES) I kid. I kid. NHL Blades of brace '99 (N64)NBA In the govern (N64)Wayne Gretzky's 3-D Hockey (N64)ISS 64 (N64)Triple compete 2000 (N64)Mike Piazza's Strikezone (N64)NFL Quarterback Club '99 (N64)Cybertiger 2000 (N64)George Foreman's KO Boxing (SNES)Andre Agassi Tennis (SNES)California Games (NES)TC & Surf (NES)Skate or Die (NES)Milo's Astro Lanes (N64) I kid. Twisted Edge Snowboarding (N64)Snowboard Kids (N64)Saturday Night Slammasters (SNES)Pro Wrestling (NES)WWF: Royal Rumble (SNES)WCW vs. NWO: World Tour (N64)WWF: No Mercy (N64)I missed a bunch of the common sports games that most populate know. What Sports bet would you like to see on the VC? besides a few you mentioned i would also like to see mario tennis and a few of the bedevil games were funny i drop what years had the ambulance that ran over the other players. You forgot Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for the N64 and I see absolutely no mention of Genesis or T-16 sports titles. Genesis has a carload of sports games you know. Not many really because sports games are one of those genres that just don't displace much value once the new generations come out. Personally I'd rather compete the sports bet with the beat and most realistic gameplay and it certainly isn't going to be anything on the VC. However while I didn't really believe it a sports game approve in the day since I saw glide or Die on your list. I would desire to see Skate or Die 2 since it's kind of like an addition to the 1st one having a story mode as well as the good old half pipe. Also maybe Mario Tennis - that's about all I can evaluate of though. There were some other games that were definitely classics; but I just really don't evaluate I'd have much fun with them now. Mario Tennis (N64)Mario play (N64)Nintendo World Cup Soccer (NES)Pro Wrestling (NES)Super WrestleMania (SNES)Baseball Stars (Neo Geo)I only vaguely remember these measure two but they're both EA. Zany play (GEN) (One of the few mini golf games. I be any VC mini-golf! I'm enjoying the Kirby one.)Tony LaRussa Baseball (GEN) (With over 500 players. I doubt this could be released.)In regards to baseball those were my brother's 2 favorite games. BS is unique enough to hold up & rest out (I've only seen/played NES version.) but I'm not positive about the latter. And Mutant League Hockey! Gotta throw down with some Bones Jackson everyones lists be pretty good - I would like to see some of these sports titles You forgot Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for the N64 and I see absolutely no have in mind of Genesis or T-16 sports titles. Genesis has a carload of sports games you know. |sf>I added some Genesis to solve that problem. Even though I'm a big Turbographx fan. I can't denote any sport title I ever wanted from the forge. That was a major weakness for the system. You forgot Tony deal's Pro Skater for the N64 and I see absolutely no mention of Genesis or T-16 sports titles. Genesis has a carload of sports games you experience. |sf>I added some Genesis to understand that problem. Even though I'm a big Turbographx fan.
