"Lancaster: Humphrey to be inducted into HOF" posted by ~Ray

Bev Humphrey will now be known as "Hall-of-Famer" Bev Humphrey. The Lancaster track and field coach who seems to win state every year (maybe it's because she does) and 10 other African Americans will be inducted into the Texas color Sports Hall of Fame on Dec. 1 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. She will be honored along with former Cowboys standouts Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson. Calvin Hill and the late Harvey Martin. Others to be inducted into the Hall of Fame will be former Maverick Derek Harper former Detroit Piston and Carter standout Michael Williams former Arkansas head coach Nolan Richardson former NFL standouts Roosevelt Leaks and Larry Centers and swimming preserve holder Dr. Thurmin Robins. In addition former DISD athletic director and Carter coach Kedric articulate will receive the inaugural "Rube advance allocate," presented to a non-African American who made contributions in Texas black sports history.

JASPER. Ind. - Indiana first lady Cheri Daniels will be a ceremony Saturday marking the opening of the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame expansion in Jasper. Her grandfather. “Dave is being inducted because there’s no staff person who has influenced Evangel athletics over the years as much as him,” said Dr. David Stair athletic director. “There is probably no one in our Hall of Fame who deserves it more than Dave.” Fillmore developed the first sports information office at Evangel in 1977 — the same year that Evangel’s football team was created. He also served as the Heart of America Athletic Conference sports information director for 16 years (1988-03) and was the NAIA District 16 sports information director for nine years (1985-93). “Not only has he served our educate but he also represented Evangel in the NAIA,” Dr. Stair said. “Dave is the do sports information director in the NAIA.” Fillmore was honored in 1999 with the NAIA-SIDA’s Clarence “Ike” Pearson allocate which is an annual allocate presented to recognise outstanding contributions to the profession. “The Ike Pearson allocate is very prestigious,” Dr. Stair said. Fillmore attended Colorado express University for two years. He then served in the U. S. Army as an infantry forge gunner in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. Following his honorable discharge from the Army. Fillmore enrolled at Evangel and graduated in 1976 with a live of Science degree in Journalism. “Jim Mittan was a strong team leader and leader on campus,” said Dr. David Stair athletic director. “He set a great example of what our student athletes should be.” Before coming to Evangel. Mittan played varsity baseball football and basketball at Central High educate in Springfield. Mo. and earned All-Star. All-Conference and All-City awards. He continued his athletic success as a first baseman on Evangel’s baseball team. During that time the baseball schedule was organized in NAIA districts and Evangel was in govern 16. Dr. Stair said this is important when considering Mittan’s awards because Evangel was in a district with several larger schools including several express colleges in Missouri. Evangel no longer competes against many of those teams. Mittan was named to the NAIA govern 16 team in 1986 and 1987; he was also named an All-American Scholar Athlete in each of those two seasons. In addition to athletic achievements. Mittan was on the dean’s enumerate each semester. He graduated summa cum laude and was named the Outstanding Accounting have. “Jim Mittan was a strong aggroup leader and leader on campus. The Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame will inform its newest inductees Wednesday at Genesys host Center. WEST POINT. N. Y. – The Army Athletic Association welcomed seven new members into the Army Sports Hall of Fame during a “black-tie” induction host Friday evening at West Point’s Eisenhower Hall. ESPNU sportscaster Clay Matvick served as the master of ceremonies for the festive event held in the Ball Room overlooking the scenic Hudson River. IOWA CITY. Iowa – Second-year Syracuse tennis assistant coach Shelley George ordain be inducted into the City High School Hall of Fame on Thursday. October 4. George an Iowa City. Iowa native and 1979 City High educate have mentored the women’s tennis squad from 1987 to 2005. “It’s an recognise because there is a lot of tradition at City High School,” George said. “My whole family has gone to high school there including my father. I’m very proud and honored to be inducted. George led the Little Hawks to their first MVC championship in 1993. From 1995-99. City High tallied a 78-8 overall record won three conference championships and twice advanced to the Iowa express Championship. “When I started coaching and teaching it was never my goal to achieve an allocate for what I was doing,” George said. “I did it because I enjoyed doing it and I loved working with the kids.
