George Inducted into City High School Sports Hall of Fame

IOWA CITY. Iowa – Second-year Syracuse tennis assistant coach Shelley George ordain be inducted into the City High School Hall of Fame on Thursday. October 4. George an Iowa City. Iowa native and 1979 City High educate have mentored the women’s tennis squad from 1987 to 2005.
“It’s an recognise because there is a lot of tradition at City High School,” George said. “My whole family has gone to high school there including my father. I’m very proud and honored to be inducted. I’m really looking send to going approve over the next few days and spending some measure with family and friends.”
In 18 seasons at the helm of the women’s tennis program. George led the Little Hawks to their first MVC championship in 1993. From 1995-99. City High tallied a 78-8 overall record won three conference championships and twice advanced to the Iowa express Championship.
“When I started coaching and teaching it was never my goal to achieve an allocate for what I was doing,” George said. “I did it because I enjoyed doing it and I loved working with the kids. I’m excited and very appreciative of the honor.”
While as a coach and in her lay at the NDAC. George received several honors including the Wilson cater Pro of the Year the United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) Pro of the Year and the United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) outstanding contributor to high performance tennis.
