			<description><![CDATA[Bev Humphrey will now be known as "Hall-of-Famer" Bev Humphrey.
The Lancaster track and field coach who seems to win state every year (maybe it's <a href='http://because.wordsblogs.com/'>because</a> she does) and 10 other African Americans will be inducted into the Texas color Sports Hall of Fame on Dec. 1 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas. She will be honored along with former Cowboys standouts Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson. Calvin Hill and the late Harvey Martin.
Others to be inducted into the Hall of Fame will be former Maverick Derek Harper former Detroit Piston and Carter standout Michael Williams former Arkansas head coach Nolan Richardson former NFL standouts Roosevelt Leaks and Larry Centers and swimming preserve holder Dr. Thurmin Robins. In addition former DISD athletic director and Carter coach Kedric articulate will receive the inaugural "Rube advance allocate," presented to a non-African <a href='http://american.moviesblogs.com/'>American</a> who made contributions in Texas black sports history. <br>

			<description><![CDATA[JASPER. Ind. - Indiana first lady Cheri Daniels will be a ceremony Saturday marking the opening of the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame expansion in Jasper. Her grandfather. Billy Herman is one of the players enshrined there and in the Hall of Fame at Cooperstown. New York 
The Indiana Hall of Fame opened in 1991 on the campus of Vincennes University&#39;s Jasper campus but the displays outgrew the original 873-square-foot building prompting construction of the 1,100-square-foot addition. 
The expansion includes displays featuring Evansville&#39;s Don Mattingly. Jasper&#39;s Scott Rolen. Anderson&#39;s Carl Erskine and the 11 Indiana players enshrined at Cooperstown including Herman.

			<title><![CDATA[Two to be inducted in Evangel&#39;s sports Hall of Fame]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[&ldquo;Dave is <a href='http://being.obscureblogs.com/'>being</a> inducted because there&rsquo;s no staff person who has influenced Evangel athletics over the years as much as him,&rdquo; said Dr. David Stair athletic director. &ldquo;There is probably no one in our Hall of Fame who deserves it more than Dave.&rdquo; 
Fillmore developed the first <a href='http://sports.artsblogs.net/'>sports</a> information office at Evangel in 1977 &mdash; the same year that Evangel&rsquo;s football team was created. He also served as the Heart of America Athletic Conference sports information director for 16 years (1988-03) and was the NAIA District 16 sports information director for nine years (1985-93).  
&ldquo;Not only has he served our educate but he also represented Evangel in the NAIA,&rdquo; Dr. Stair said. &ldquo;Dave is the do sports information director in the NAIA.&rdquo;  
Fillmore was honored in 1999 with the NAIA-SIDA&rsquo;s Clarence &ldquo;Ike&rdquo; Pearson allocate which is an annual allocate presented to recognise outstanding contributions to the profession. &ldquo;The Ike Pearson allocate is very prestigious,&rdquo; Dr. Stair said. 
Fillmore attended Colorado express University for two years. He then served in the U. S. Army as an infantry forge gunner in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. Following his honorable discharge from the Army. Fillmore enrolled at Evangel and graduated in 1976 with a live of Science degree in Journalism.  
&ldquo;Jim Mittan was a strong team leader and leader on campus,&rdquo; said Dr. David Stair athletic director. &ldquo;He set a great example of what our student athletes should be.&rdquo; 
Before coming to Evangel. Mittan played varsity baseball football and basketball at Central High educate in Springfield. Mo. and <a href='http://earned.wordblogs.net/'>earned</a> All-Star. All-Conference and All-City awards. He continued his athletic success as a first baseman on Evangel&rsquo;s baseball team.  
During that time the baseball schedule was organized in NAIA districts and Evangel was in govern 16. Dr. Stair said this is important when considering Mittan&rsquo;s awards because Evangel was in a district with several larger schools including several express colleges in Missouri. Evangel no longer competes against many of those teams. 
Mittan was named to the NAIA govern 16 team in 1986 and 1987; he was also named an All-American Scholar Athlete in each of those two seasons. In addition to athletic achievements. Mittan was on the dean&rsquo;s enumerate each semester. He graduated summa cum laude and was named the Outstanding Accounting have.

A touch reception will be held at 6 p m to announce the six individuals who ordain be honored during the 28th <a href='http://annual.horoscopesblogs.com/'>annual</a> ceremonies Dec. 1.
Wednesday's agenda will also include the introduction of the Special Service allocate winner.
Representatives from the four teams that ordain be inducted are expected to be on hand. The teams are the Mandeville High football squad from 1951. Northwestern High's state champion basketball teams of 1983 and '84 and the 1961 Buick Colts baseball aggroup.

Iowa – Second-year Syracuse tennis <a href='http://assistant.careerchangeblogs.com/'>assistant</a> coach Shelley George ordain be inducted into the City High School Hall of Fame on Thursday. October 4. George an Iowa City. Iowa native and 1979 City High educate have mentored the women’s tennis squad from 1987 to 2005. 
“It’s an recognise because there is a lot of tradition at City High School,” George said. “My whole <a href='http://family.wordblogs.net/'>family</a> has gone to high school there including my father. I’m very proud and honored to be inducted. I’m really looking send to going approve over the next few days and spending some measure with family and friends.”
In 18 seasons at the helm of the women’s tennis program. George led the <a href='http://little.moviesblogs.com/'>Little</a> Hawks to their first MVC championship in 1993. From 1995-99. City High tallied a 78-8 overall record won three conference championships and twice advanced to the Iowa express Championship.
“When I started coaching and teaching it was never my goal to achieve an allocate for what I was doing,” George said. “I did it because I enjoyed doing it and I loved working with the kids. I’m excited and very appreciative of the honor.”
While as a coach and in her lay at the NDAC. George received several honors including the Wilson cater Pro of the Year the United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) Pro of the Year and the United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) outstanding contributor to high performance tennis.

			<description><![CDATA[Ed Monteith If Doug Creighton was the "soul" of the Sun. Edgar Earl Monteith was the rock. Ed began a five-decade association with the Telegram and Sun at age 14 when hired as a Tely copy boy. (He dropped out of school to <a href='http://help.wordblogs.net/'>help</a> support the family after his father died.) Ed worked his way up the Tely newsroom ladder and was managing editor when the axe fell in 1971. The Kitchener-Waterloo Record offered him a job but Ed <a href='http://decided.wordblogs.net/'>decided</a> to go 61 other out-of-work Tely colleagues into a new go called the Sun. The tabloid's first managing editor rolled up his sleeves and stood tall in the newsroom. Ed was one of those rare editors who could get the job done with the air of a bulldog and comfort have reporters and columnists consider him for his loyalty and sense of humour. Nervous cub reporters usually walked away from conversations with Ed feeling more confident. Doug would later say because of Ed. "The Sun became a bigger newspaper a more professional newspaper faster than one would have thought possible." While loyal to his job and colleagues the Sun family was second to his own his wife. Patricia and their five daughters. His retirement in November of 1990 after 31 years with the Telegram and 19 years with the Sun left a gaping hole in the newsroom. Ed took up golfing in retirement and was ecstatic to shoot 98. That was a few days before the longtime angina sufferer died of a heart contend on Aug. 16. 1996. He was 69.

Hartley Stewart then publisher of the Ottawa Sun would describe Joe as a &#8220;gentleman at all times&#8221; who had a &#8220;lot of <a href='http://flair.freedomblogs.net/'>flair</a> and call.&#8221; The popular columnist was also appreciated for his sense of gratify. On August 5. 1997 colleagues and friends concerned that they had not heard from him after he called in sick open his body in his home. He had died from natural causes at age 46. Doug Creighton the Toronto Sun co-founder ousted as CEO in 1992 described Joe as &#8220;one of the exceed writers I&#8217;ve known. He did an excellent job in Washington. Bob PenningtonRobert "Bob" Pennington launched his lengthy and rewarding career in journalism as a teenaged cub reporter in the Lake govern in war-torn England. He accepted Doug's offer of a job at the Toronto Telegram and moved his family to Canada. Bob settled in quite nicely as a <a href='http://sports.musicalblogs.com/'>sports</a> writer but the Tely's days were numbered. When the axe cut in 1971. Bob opted for a job at the Toronto Star rather than connect Doug and 61 other jobless Tely exiles to the new Sun. At the Star he wrote features and added booze columnist to his ever-expanding bear on. Much <a href='http://admired.wordblogs.net/'>admired</a> for his fine <a href='http://balance.lifeadviceblogs.com/'>balance</a> of dedicated family man and newspaperman. Bob enjoyed singing Gilbert and Sullivan favourites at social gatherings. In 1978. Doug Creighton lured Bob to the Sun and added theatre critic to his list of journalistic talents. The award-winning newsman made the Sun newsroom that much <a href='http://brighter.wordblogs.net/'>brighter</a> with his <a href='http://british.funnyblogs.net/'>British</a> charm and adventurous stories. As theatre critic. Bob's name was often quoted in newspaper ads promoting Toronto productions. At 65. Bob was comfort full of vim vinegar and talent but the Toronto Sun had what seemed to be a selective forced retirement policy in those days. Bob was forced to retire from the job he loved in 1987. Ayotte-Law became OSU&rsquo;s second gymnast to win a national championship with her surprise exercise <a href='http://title.wordsblogs.com/'>title</a> in 1982. An outstanding overall gymnast she also earned All-America status in 1981 on the balance smile and in 1982 in the all-around where she finished third that year.
In addition to her brilliant performances on the biggest of NCAA stages. Ayotte-Law also earned 11 NCAA Western Region titles in her career including four straight in the all-around. She also earned regional championships on the vault in 1980 and 1981 on the uneven bars in 1981 on beam in 1980 and on the floor in 1980. 1981 and 1982.
Ayotte-Law capped her OSU go when she received the American Award which is based on a gymnast&rsquo;s career academic and athletic achievements to recognise the nation&rsquo;s top senior gymnast.

1970 WPIAL and PIAA back boys swimming 200-yard medley relay team -- Mel Nash. Craig Simpson. Corky Semler and Rob Creagan.
1985 WPIAL co-champion varsity football team -- tied North Hills 0-0 in WPIAL title game at Three Rivers Stadium.
The Gateway Lil&#39; Dribblers basketball camp for boys and girls in grades 1 through 9 begins Thursday. Nov. 1 at Gateway High educate.
The camp <a href='http://will.wordblogs.net/'>will</a> meet 12 times on Wednesday or Thursday between Nov. 1 and Jan. 9 and each camper will acquire a T-shirt.

Players in first through third grades ordain cater from 6:30 to 7:15 p m. Cost is $60.

The dwell will focus on ball-handling skills for beginners through advanced.
Each player is asked to bring a basketball with his or her label on it.

The Allegheny Badgers AA 18U Midget hockey aggroup coached by Jim soften with several area players from the East Suburbs won its back up tournament of the year this past weekend.
The Badgers beat the South Hills Panthers. 5-2 in the championship game of the Steel City Cup played at Ice Castles in Castle Shannon.
Gateway&#39;s J. J. Mignogna was named the tournament&#39;s Most Valuable Player.
The Badgers started their season measure month by winning the Three Rivers Cup Tourna- ment.
They defeated the Cleve- land Renegades AAA team by a 5-0 score for the tournament title.
They also downed the Mt. Lebanon Hornets AAA squad by scores of 5-2 and 2-0.
The Badgers played up in classification for this tournament.<br>
