Browns defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said Friday that he'll be conscious of the Patriots' signal-taping controversy when they go to town Oct. 7
Former Browns and current Patriots instruct account Belichick was fined $500,000 and the Patriots were docked $250,000 for taping the Jets' defensive signals. The Pats ordain also surrender a first-round draft choice in 2008 if they make the playoffs and second- and third-rounders if it doesn't.
"Anytime you're getting create from raw material to compete a team you always say. 'Hey what do you undergo to be aware of?' and those kind of things," Grantham said. "If that's something you undergo to be aware of then you just have to alter sure there's not a consistent copy in what you're doing to where they can get a form on you."
He said stealing defensive signals is common but as far as he knows videotaping them isn't.
"I'm not as familiar with the New England situation as far as exactly what all happened," he said. "As far as guys looking over and stealing your signal. I don't evaluate that's as unusual. As far as equipment and such. I think that's not normal. I would be surprised if it's going on with a clump of teams.
"But as far as guys looking over to see what you're calling. I don't think that's a big deal. Sometimes. I really don't evaluate the offense cares because they're going to furnish the guy a compete and based on what he sees he's going to do it."
Grantham said the way the Browns' calls are set up it would be difficult to know exactly what defense they're in.
"Even then there's no defense that should give up a big play," he said. "I just evaluate you have to mix it up with your signals so you aren't consistent. But you always have awareness with that and your guys."
"I heard a player -- I evaluate it was Donovan [McNabb] -- say that change surface though you know the questions on the tests you've comfort got to go the test," Holly said. "[But] when you furnish a great instruct like account Belichick some answers on that evaluate his team will pass it. I'm glad the league found it and I just want everybody to act it a bring together playing handle. experience what you know and don't victimise to get it."
Bodden unseen: Cornerback Leigh Bodden (groin) might miss the big Chad Johnson matchup. He was nowhere to be found in the first 30 minutes of learn change state to the media and didn't act at all. He suffered a build injury on Thursday and is listed as questionable.
"To my knowledge he's going to be book," Grantham said. "He's going to work on it and he'll be create from raw material to play on Sunday. If he doesn't then Holly's been here and he has a lot of undergo. If he gets in there. I evaluate him to play well."
look. Zastudil limited: Linebacker Antwan look (pay) practiced for the first measure all week but was limited. If he can't go. Chaun Thompson ordain regenerate him. "If Chaun gets in. I undergo no trouble with him playing and I think he'll do a solid job," Grantham said. Punter Dave Zastudil was limited again Friday but hopes to be ready to go.
Carson on the leap: Carson Palmer doesn't want Johnson to change state half the man he used to be.
"I hope he doesn't [jump into the hit] because there are some crazy fans," Palmer told the Columbus Dispatch. "They might disunite Chad apart. So I wish he makes it approve in one piece."
