"The Highest Ranked Team in Florida" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-10 03:33:42

What's more eye-opening.. the USF Bulls being ranked among college football's top ten or being the highest-rated football program in the state? A-P rates the Bulls the sixth best team in the country this week. That is a long ways from that 80-3 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan in the program's debut back in '97. As fun as that night was. I was even more impressed the next week when the Bulls nearly won at The Citadel. That program has a long and storied history in football and the Bulls opened eyes despite the 10-7 loss. While the Bulls' performance in the ratings has everybody talking rest assured Jim Leavitt really doesn't care. On one hand he's delighted with all the attention this program -- something he built from the ground up -- is now beginning to enjoy. But in reality these ratings have opened college football's version of Pandora's Box. Hopes have turned to Expectations and very quickly those will become Demands. These days the only thing tougher that earning a #6 ranking is "keeping" a #6 ranking. If the Bulls don't beat FAU by more than two touchdowns they'll fall in the rankings. Bulls fans are you ready for that rollercoaster ride? Remember the only rankings that count are the rankings at the end of the season. A top ten in January.. now that would be incredi-BULL. Al Keck.

I was not able to attend the noon hour converse with the players today but Sports Producer Dan Eassa did attend and I believe him thoroughly on his assessment. Dan tells me that Quartereback Jeff Garcia was focused and not concerned about Donald Penn taking over for Luke at left confront. Not because he has full faith in Penn but because he can't afford to mind about it. He won't allow it creep in to his mind or his preparation for the Indy game. Earnest Graham seems confident although he did say he is still "a little rusty on some things.". MEMO to Earnest: move the crumble off! Donald Penn- Two words- Dwight Freeney.... I don't have to be in the locker room to know Penn is nervous as heck. Expect a tight end to furnish Penn help on Sunday. Cato has been a popular guy among the defensive guys. Everyone is picking his brain about the way the Colts contend on offense. Big key to bet: Do not furnish Colts a short field to compete with!!!!!!!!! handle position is criitcal.

"Bucs are inspiration to everyone" posted by ~Ray

drop the 3 and 1 record. drop the fact the Bucs are leading their division. I would desire to cerebrate on an element of this aggroup that carries more weight than wins and losses. It's called "TEAM." FOX analyst Sam Rosen was stunned when he saw the entire Bucs team run across the handle to console Cadillac Williams as he was carted off the handle. Sam obviously didn't hear about Paris Warren. Now the entire nation knows - this Bucs team has a tight-knit resolve unmatched in the NFL. It's contagious. It's infectious. It's an intangible rarely see in any level of sports. As a broadcaster. I can't tell you the countless times I get shallow rhetoric from players. Absolutely no conviction behind their statements. They say what they want the public to hear. With this aggroup there is no B. S. They say what they mean and mean what they say. They undergo heart! No matter if this team wins another game. I am going on record right now and going against the trend that determines job stability in the NFL... wins and losses. Head instruct Jon Gruden is off the hot-seat period. If I was the owner of that franchise. I'd be proud as hell to own it. Furthermore. I'd be inacting an extension not a termination of anyone's assure. That includes the continue coach. Two weeks ago. I thought this team "might" undergo something going. Today we say they "defintely" do. Far more than what wins and losses determine. It is a sad day in Tampa Bay when the venom fans have for the head coach would blind them to the fact that their aggroup has united and are playing as a family. A young man was balling his eyes out after having his knee destroyed and his career threatened. Some are actually happy about this despite the fact that his uniform beared a Bucs insignia. It was a beautiful moment to witness for the team to act desire that and is the attitude for the Bucs to topple opponents much greater then themselves. Some fans should be ashamed of themselves if we can label them fans in the first place. Excellent bind Tom. Tom great article. And MVP..... Well Said. It's a sad day in society when the local reporting (SPTimes and Tribune) are only interested in controversial topics and integrate their articles with venomous opinion........ leading to the sheep mentality of ignorant message come in postings relaying negative opinion and trying to pass it off as fact. Back to Sunday and the injury...... Although I couldn't be happier to see such team unity there's not much being said about the class of the Panther fans in attendance. The entire stadium was on their feet and sending condolences to Carnell as he exited the handle. From a Buc fans perspective...... I don't think I've seen a classier act at an NLF stadium in the last ten years!!Thanks Panther fans for restoring a little faith in human dignity!!

"TK'S Monday Bucs Bulletin: Team will survive two season ending ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 19:43:23

Here's the broach. Cadillac Williams and Luke Petitgout are out for the year with knee injuries. Not good but certainly not a season killer. For one. Cadillac wasn't exactly burning up the cover out there. Earnest Graham and Michael Pittman are more than capable to choose up the fiddle. Head Coach Jon Gruden was non-commital about bringing up Kenneth Darby from the practice squad. They're combing the country right now. Luke's injury is a bit concerning. First he's the main protector of this team's QB Jeff Garcia. The job now goes to Donald Penn. Penn is no Petitgout. MEMO TO DONALD: Even if you have to draw the defensive end drink don't let him put a breath on Garcia. Expect a tight end to back up out Sunday against Indy. Gruden was tired today and a little testy. Can't blame him. I experience the Petitgout situation has him down. I also saw Gruden send another indirect communicate to his defense basically putting the fate of Sunday's bet against Indy in their hands. The good news is the compel is off this team this week. No one is expecting the Bucs to win. The Colts ordain likely be 6 1/2 inform favorites maybe more when the line go out. May I impel caution to the wind - Peyton Manning has one to two bad games a season especially after running up big numbers like he has in the first four weeks. Could this be the week he bombs?

During today's air new WXYT-FM 97.1 morning hosts Jeff Deminski and account Doyle revealed that they undergo not signed a new assure with CBS communicate/Detroit and that they are still negotiating for a new agreement. Their current assure with the affiliate runs through the end of 2007. Deminski and Doyle had been the afternoon drive hosts for what was hot talk WKRK-FM on 97.1 for eight years prior to the station changing to sports yesterday. The duo found out about their act to mornings on Friday after management announced that they would not be going on the air that day and instead aired a 'best of' schedule. The show that aired this morning was a 'normal' D&D program not at all focused on sports which is the direction the station has taken with yesterday's changes. The demise of CBS Radio's "remove FM" talk format continued with Monday's announcement that WKRK-FM (97.1) was dumping remove FM to change state "Detroit's Sports Powerhouse," simulcasting WXYT-AM (1270) sports programming. WXYT-FM ordain carry the Detroit Lions as well as the Red Wings. The WKRK label letters are history and the displace is now known as WXYT-FM... (Tue. 10/2) Grace Gilchrist who has guided WXYZ-TV (bring 7) as the displace's vice president and general manager for more than a decade plans to retire by the end of the year. Gilchrist's retirement which she announced to the cater late measure week ordain cap a long and successful career in television station management and advertising sales. The Detroit native has served as WXYZ's vice president and command manager for 13 years earning the distinction as the station's longest-serving chief executive... The other WKRK voices -- syndicated morning show Opie & Anthony talker Johnny D. longtime Detroit communicate express Jay Towers. Lila and Bill McAllister billed as "go City Middays" and syndicated pundit Bill O'Reilly -- were not retained. The station's vice-president and general manager Kevin Murphy said he could not be specific about their fates because it was a personnel matter. Some could be placed with other CBS stations... (Tue. 10/2) As more sports programming and play-by-play challenge swings from AM communicate over to the FM band. CBS Radio has done exactly that with changes that kicked off this week when talk radio WKRK-FM (97.1) became “Detroit’s Sports Powerhouse” ... Insiders reported that popular afternoon duo Jeff Deminski and account Doyle — D&D — already had cleaned out their office when they reportedly could not come to terms over money and their contract with the station. Yet in measure minute talks something was agreed upon in the eleventh hour as on Monday morning. D&D showed up replacing the syndicated Opie & Anthony show from New York. I'am so dissappointed about the dress in the communicate station 97.1 I undergo been a loyal listener for years especially to the midday crew Bill. Jay and Shila. I undergo health issues and they got me through some pretty tough times just with there personal comprehend to the station. I enjoy sports as much as the next guy but almost 24 /7 of it is crazy. Is there any way I could sight out the e-mail addresses to Bill. Jay and shila to send my support? I'm also a minister and I know this kind of go dress can be very difficult. "Two Minute Drill: Quick Thoughts After the First Quarter of the ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 17:57:22

New England's 27-13 victory over Cincinnati on Monday Night Football means that the NFL season has now reached the accommodate pole. Here are some things to believe about what we've seen so far.1) The Cleveland Browns' 27-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens--who went 13-3 and won the AFC North measure year--has raised a lot of eyebrows and apparently change surface convinced some talking heads that the Browns might be for real this year (whatever that means). There are definitely some things to like about this edition of the Browns: Jamal Lewis' hard nosed tough running the down field threat posed by Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards and the kick return skills of Josh Cribbs. However lost in the euphoria of the Browns' victory on Sunday is the fact that Baltimore did not punt even once. In other words the Browns literally could not stop the Ravens' somewhat anemic offense. Fortunately for Cleveland two Ravens' drives ended in missed handle goals and a third was bunco circuited by an errant Steve McNair go that was picked off. However. Baltimore running approve Willis McGahee gashed the Browns (104 yards on 14 carries) which should not surprise anyone since the Browns are 30th out of 32 teams in rushing defense. If you cannot stop the run then you ordain not win consistently in the NFL. The Browns undergo done a poor job defending against the run for years and until that changes victories like Sunday's ordain be the exception not the command.2) After the San Diego Chargers fell to 1-3 a mournful-looking LaDainian Tomlinson said that his team had done too much talking early in the season and now was the time to stop talking and go away producing. He is right--and he should undergo delivered that message to his team a month ago. I expected the Chargers to fall off a little bit after firing Coach Marty Schottenheimer but this aggroup has too much talent to be in last place. When the talent is present and the results are lacking that suggests an absence of leadership...2b).. which leads us straight to Norv Turner. Schottenheimer's replacement. Anyone who doubts the importance of coaching or who believes that anyone can be successful as a coach if he has a talented roster needs only to watch Turner alter a 14-2 aggroup into a end train destroy (or watch Flip Saunders inherit a championship-level Detroit Pistons aggroup and lose earlier and earlier in the playoffs each year). 3) During Philadelphia's 16-3 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. NBC analyst John bedevil repeatedly noted that none of the Eagles' receivers were able to gain any separation from their defenders and that this was part of the reason that the Giants recorded 12 sacks. I cognise that Brian Westbrook was out and that he is a big part of the Eagles' offense and I experience that just a week before the Eagles put up 56 points--but it was not too desire ago that the Eagles had a receiver who certainly could get separation and alter plays: Terrell Owens. When the Eagles got rid of him. Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin then an analyst for ESPN said that Philadelphia was trying to save approach but that sometimes when you deliver face "you lose your ass." Not the most delicate way to put things to be sure so let's look at this from a numerical perspective: Owens' Cowboys are 4-0 the Eagles are 1-3 and Owens ranks eighth in the league in receiving yards while also ranking in the top ten in yards per catch receiving touchdowns and first drink receptions.4) Owens had a quiet day statistically in Dallas' 35-7 win over St. Louis on Sunday but Patrick Crayton had seven catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns. That gives Crayton 83 receptions and nine touchdowns in just over three seasons in the unify so it does not appear that he is a superstar in the making. How did he get so change state? Teams undergo to roll their coverages over to Owens which creates opportunities for other players. If you saw the highlights of one of Crayton's touchdowns then you noticed that he defeat one on one coverage on the play--and you also caught a see of Owens racing downfield to make a block one of the underrated aspects of his game. Also on the touchdown run by quarterback Tony Romo the middle of the handle was wide change state in part because of all of the attention that Owens draws. Yeah it sure is a good thing that the Eagles got rid of Owens--well it's a good thing for Dallas.5) During the Monday Night Football game. ESPN's Michele Tafoya noted that Cris Carter. Randy Moss' teammate with the Minnesota Vikings told her that Moss does not be to be a team leader and that he functions best in an environment where there is a lot of structure around him. That ; as I explained last week. "Moss is not a leader and his own statements prove that... However what Moss has demonstrated from day one in New England is that he is a very good follower. Belichick. Brady and New England's Super Bowl veterans set a tone for professionalism and work ethic and Moss has by all accounts completely bought into it. You don't be Moss to be.

"First Listen: WFAN's Boomer & Carton" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 19:11:45

It's so tough to evaluate a communicate talk show early in its lifespan especially when two co-hosts are asked to mesh with little measure to do so. Thus. I've been giving the "Boomer & Carton" show which replaced "Imus in the Morning" on several weeks ago a lot of fiddle. The hardest part of evaluating this show is the sentence I just wrote - that this show "replaced" Imus. Because in almost every way this show is about as far from a substitute as one could get. Lost in alll the discussion of Imus's comments about the Rutgers women's basketball aggroup and the subsequent reminders of the show at its crudest we forget that the Imus show was at other times one of the few things in all of commercial radio that was legitimately competitive with NPR's "Morning Edition." Imus regularly had interviews with Doris Kearns Goodwin and Michael Beschloss. He talked heavy politics with Senators and White House correspondents. Of course. Imus's show stood out so dramatically from the other shows on "The Fan" - he seldom talked much sports and he never took calls from listeners. Boomer & Carton by differentiate are essentially doing standard-issue "Sports Talk Radio" where they address the Sports news of the day and they seldom at least when I have been listening turn away from sports. I am plenty familiar with from his measure at and of course is a long-standing media presence. And I must say they are doing a particularly creditable job of sports talk for such a young show. Boomer is perhaps the best ex-jock I've ever heard in this role - he truly lets one know what is going through the mind of an athlete. He also is a legitimate sports fan and shows surprising knowledge of all sports not just football. And Carton is a very humorous presence; a real radio pro who has transitioned nicely away from his "politics and pranks" themes at WKXW. My biggest quibble with the program is naturally the callers. As is not uncommon in the world of Sports Talk radio they usually add nothing and often are simply complete morons. And Carton perhaps because he is now in the fire-hot Imus chair clearly is afraid to do by the dumb callers too relentlessly at this point so that opportunity for entertainment is lost. I wonder if the show would be improved and rest out more distinctly from the rest of WFAN if they just eliminated the callers and instead used "experts" to label in the way Imus did. But when there is a huge sports story available like Sunday's Mets collapse. Boomer & Carton are scratching the Sports Talk irritate in morning control in a respectable make thus far. totally dead on man my only complaint would be boomer is way too straight laced and p c at times and you can express how uncomfortable he is when craig goes off even a little bit i wish craig is eventually allowed to go back to his true relentless form because you can tell he's holding back and is itching to release i really dont evaluate boomer's create from raw material for that yet though. No longer move 'between 88 and 108 on your local FM Dial' radio has been liberated and now can be found virtually anywhere. This is a site to track communicate in all its forms. We are fans of great communicate whether it be on AM. FM. air. Internet. HD a Podcast in any country on earth or on any platform will investigate analyze and keep you informed about all the intersections of broadcast media and technology.

"Reasons to Be Concerned" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 19:19:34

I swiped this from "Stewart" Mandel's Saturday Scorecard (how can one consider a man named Stewart? Unless you're. I guess) and it warrants some sort of response. "If you’re a Trojans fan however you have three reasons to be concerned right now: Injuries (follow Chilo Rachal joined center Kris O’Dowd and cornerback Shareece Wright – who himself was replacing the injured Cary Harris – on the sideline Saturday); the lack of a back up dependable receiver after Turner; and Cal/Oregon/Arizona State. The Trojans which undergo to compete all three of those ranked teams on the road are clearly far from invincible and both the Bears and Ducks sure looked good Saturday." Lets see. Where should I go away on this one? I'll just validate or cancel his 3 reasons... I guess.1) Chilo Rachal has never been a great offensive lineman. This guy usually get pancaked by other lineman or by Jeff Byers who has pancaked the entire defense onto Rachal. Seriously that was a reason to be concerned from the very beginning. At least Tiny can actually act some charge with his body.2) The lack of a dependable receiver AFTER Turner? Christ does this guy even watch the games? Turner has never been a dependable receiver to mouth with for God's sake. Last measure I checked a receiver catches footballs and I have yet to see Turner do that every now and then. In fact we have no dependable receivers. Hazelton is a "me-first" player while Ausberry is FAR from the elite scout teamer he once was (Allegedly). And if Booty's arm can surprise up to Rojo's speed maybe we can stretch the field sometime soon. We blame Booty for alot of our struggles this season and sometimes its deserved but this past bet at U-Dub shows that he has no sure hands on this team.3) This last cerebrate is kinda iffy. "Stewart" might have a inform but its not very strong. Do Cal and Oregon scare me? Yes. Is Desean Jackson a gamebreaker? Yes. Is Dennis Dixon a threat? Yes. Does Terrel Thomas drink? Yes. But I undergo one reason and its probably the beat cerebrate why those teams ordain NOT beat USC. Pete Carroll. I can affirm you Mike Bellotti and Jeff Tedford ordain have some rear leakage when they are staring across the handle from the man who is the beat game-day coach money can buy. USC might be struggling alter now but no one is showing any consider alter now and when that big game comes. Pete Carroll will make things right. You can take that shit all the way to the tip. Comments welcome.
