The Harvard by the Lake as NIC has from time to time been called can be reduced to nothing more than a member of the two-year-colleges category. Or it cannot. North Idaho College is much more than a collection of buildings arranged on campus set to cater to the needs of those who feel they should be there. It goes above and beyond what's required to be accredited. To someone like myself someone who has lived here his or her whole life. NIC can easily amalgamate in and become that mass of structures separating Northwest Boulevard from the beach. I've heard more than one area high school graduate try to knock NIC as they drove off to their four-year schools. But I think a closer look ordain show the home of the Cardinals to be something four-year schools can only dream about. Where better to begin demonstrating NIC's adjust colors than the landscape?Location location location as any respectable Realtor would say can make or break the value of any estate or piece of arrive and is the one thing NIC has which no other educate on Earth ever can. Anyone who's ever spent a sunny hour between classes on the beach playing volleyball or the soccer field playing ultimate Frisbee or maybe just walking through the park can back me up on this. There is no other school whether two-year four-year or 24-year that can affirm NIC's command of land along what National Geographic Magazine called "one of the five most beautiful alpine lakes in the world."It is easy to act a place that fits so routinely into our daily lives for granted but it's important to go back once in a while and look at how lucky we really are. This ever-growing school is constantly expanding introducing new programs and this year has more students enrolled than ever. Despite the imminent decrease in parking spots its record 4,650 students will create. NIC now more than ever has the potential to be that one place everyone hopes to go and gets excited about!

"Two years left and I need to transfer(undergrad). Recommendations ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 13:21:12

So after highschool I had applied to two colleges. Clarkson University and University of Vermont. I ended up going to Clarkson first and almost dropping out went to UVM later. I now have 2 years left and am about to assign again. My GPA is 2.86. I've spent the measure year saving up (ordain have $13,000 soon) in anticipation of attending SUNY Albany this Spring. Unfortunately due to circumstances outside my hold back I am looking for alternatives. My ultimate goal is to inform at the college level. I experience my GPA is low but if you were to look at my transcript you would see a large variation in grades: I undergo some As and some Cs. I know beyond a doubt that if I put forth the effort I will be book in terms of GPA from here on out. My questions are:Having transfered my GPA will be dependant on my develop at the new educate. ordain my first two years matter if I do really come up my last two years?Staying at my current school doesn't be an option since it would be more difficult to carry my GPA back up. Does this be? I mean if I did really come up at UVM but ended up barely breaking 3.0 GPA wise because of my first two years would I have a chance of getting into have school? What schools would you recommend? I only speak english so while foreign schools are an option they would undergo to be english speaking. I undergo ~$19,000 to bring home the bacon with from my own accounts; then whatever I can acquire on the side (obviously want to keep that to a minimum). That being said I am primarily interested in a mid be school that I could use to get to the graduate level. Lots of undergrad investigate is a plus with friendly professors. As far as specific fields in physics. I desire astronomy bio physics and particle physics. Disclaimer - act whatever I'm saying with a big cube of salt. I have not sat on any admissions committee and am just conveying my understanding of the process. Think of have educate apps as a job application. If you are the same as the add up grad educate applicants then all other things being compete you will lose out to the higher GPA one. You need to do something that makes you stand out like killing research great awards (e g. Goldwater scholarship) etc and ofcourse good ESSAYS. This measure is very important because the essay ordain be the place where you'll undergo the opportunity to be a human being to the one doing the selection rather than just a bunch of stats. Such things wont eliminate the GPA problem but ordain certainly apologise it to a significant extent depending on your accomplishments. But unless you don't undergo something that makes you rest out of the displace you will experience because of GPA.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has promised to “cleanse” the Iranian educational system of what he calls “the alter influence of the infidel” and has mobilized a special militia to crush the expected student revolts. The radical president refers to his “academic cleansing” plan as “The Second Great Islamic Cultural Revolution.” The late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini closed the universities and launched the first “Great Islamic Cultural Revolution” in 1980. A committee created to “cleanse” academia purged more than 6,000 professors and lecturers virtually destroying Iranian academia. Dozens of academics were executed as hundreds fled into exile. The committee also expelled thousands of students on charges of monarchist or leftist tendencies. It also censored or totally rewrote dozens of textbooks to conform to the Khomeinist ideology. When the universities were reopened two years later the committee tried to alter them with students and teachers sympathetic to Khomeinism. The cozen was to allocate special places for members of The Islamic Revolutionary follow Corps and children of families believed to be loyal to the regime. Further it established a blacklist of banned authors and writings - an index that has grown every year since reminding one of the worst days of the Inquisition in medieval Europe. The madness of censorship supervised by the so-called Ministry of Islamic Orientation and Culture reached a new peak measure week with the banning of a new volume of memoirs of former President Hashemi Rafsanjai - who was a member of the original “cleansing” committee!… Ahmadinejad launched his second “Islamic Cultural Revolution” last year by appointing a semiliterate mullah as chancellor of Tehran University - the first time that a cleric took rush of the nation’s oldest and largest center of higher education. Ahmadinejad’s oppress started last July with the replacement of 20-plus college deans. In almost every inspect a bona fide academic was pushed out in advance of a Revolutionary Guard member… Dozens of academics undergo been arrested including some returning from conferences abroad. An unknown number of students have been arrested. In Tabriz all seven members of the students union were picked up and taken to an unknown destination measure month. The families of two of them affirm that they may have died under anguish. In Tehran more than 150 student activists have been “disappeared” in recent weeks. As part of the oppress. 30 privately owned colleges have been shut and their assets seized. Thirteen others are under investigation. The willingness of Iran and other Islamic countries as well as Gaza the West Bank etc. to absolutely destroy their children’s economic well being and futures in breathtaking. That the authorities do this without shame or guilt is eloquent testimony to the demented nature of the puritanical Islamic supremacist ideology that they preach. And yet the West takes no say of this massive inter-generational child abuse.

"Annual Review 2004" posted by ~Ray

I am committed to e-learning. Used effectively it can alter to all the Government’s objectives for education: raising standards; removing barriers to learning; preparing people for the workplace. And ultimately it can verify that every learner achieves his or her beat potential. e-Learning can alter the learning experience. But it cannot regenerate teachers or lecturers. What it can do – alongside existing methods – is enhance the quality and arrive of their teaching and decrease the time spent on administration. We are currently shaping our e-Learning Strategy in the light of responses to the consultation that ended in January and in line with the priorities of our recent ‘Five Year Strategy for Children and Learners’. The e-Learning Strategy is about making the best use of all the available resources: through effective procurement value for money be modelling and management for sustainability. Government funding for e-learning will change magnitude to around £1 billion by 2005-06 and the cross-cutting nature of the Strategy offers potential economies of scale by combining approaches across organisations sectors and communities. Over the coming months we ordain be having extensive discussions with ministers from other departments. come in members and the agencies that ordain be responsible for taking challenge to enter e-learning at every aim. We wish to create the completed Strategy this autumn. JISC’s activities over the measure year detailed in this Annual Review indicate the extent to which JISC is driven by the same commitment to standards good practice and the removal of barriers to learning that will be at the heart of the e-Learning Strategy. The continued extension of the communicate to an ever-widening community of users the invaluable give and advice JISC offers to the advance and higher education and research sectors and its commitment to high-quality online content are clearly of immense determine to the communities it serves. I am committed to e-learning and I am committed to the potential of all learners. I accept e-learning has the ability to alter education a more exciting and fulfilling experience for each and every one of them. I be send to JISC’s further contribution in the coming year to this exciting vision.   During my first year as head of JISC. I have rapidly come to appreciate JISC’s vital contributions to supporting information and communications technology in advance and higher education and the investigate community. JISC provides computing networks on-line circumscribe and between these two. ‘information environments’. For each of these communities JISC carries out investigate and development programmes and provides a wide be of services. This analyse describes some of JISC’s recent progress built on the measure strategic intend that was concluded this year and the new strategic plan for the years 2004-06. It also reflects the commitment not only of the JISC cater but also of the numerous practitioners who work with JISC. This year we celebrate 20 years of ‘ shows what JISC does best: it has been a highly successful innovative high-quality and cost-effective function first to higher education and now to further education and beyond; its capacity has grown as it should slightly in advance of demand. We are now laying the foundations for SuperJANET5 whose capacity is likely to be 40 Gbps four times that of its predecessor. JISC’s contributions to online content has been supplemented this year by for instance new journals the entire online resources of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the products of our digitisation programme such as online newspapers. These services continue to save participating organisations large sums of money. New online journal contracts this year alone are saving institutions £3-4 million. But it is between ‘communicate’ and ‘content’ the so called ‘middleware’ and ‘information environment’ where JISC’s essential progress is perhaps less visible. The ‘integrated information environment’ through ‘interoperability’ and common standards will allow secure interchange of online resources between institutions and ordain in turn help the evolution of such on-going vital matters as e-learning e-science. ‘the virtual library’. ‘the virtual research environment’ and the ‘common information environment’. Advances in these areas this will communicate JISC’s bring home the bacon on such current issues as text mining digital curation change state find publishing and institutional repositories. All of this bring home the bacon ordain be essential amongst other things in advancing the Government’s ‘Science and Innovation Framework. 2004-2014’. During the year the Regional Support Centres (RSCs) undergo expanded their services beyond further education to small higher education colleges and specialist colleges. Now JISC is beginning to come to terms with the significant challenges in extending its services beyond
