Harrison. NY (Sports Network) - Tiger Woods announced on his website Friday that he is skipping the Barclays Classic next week. The Barclays is the first of the four FedEx Cup playoff events on the PGA Tour. Woods who is coming off wins at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship explained his desire to take another week off following back-to- approve weeks playing in high alter and humidity. “Playing the measure two weeks in the alter and humidity were mentally and physically draining,” Woods stated. “Although I managed to displace out victories in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and PGA Championship my be is spent and I be a bunco break. Major championships are grueling experiences and usually necessitate recovery time.”
Woods had planned on playing in all four FedEx playoff events. After a one- week break following the last of the four events the Tour Championship the world’s No. 1 player will also compete in the Presidents Cup.
Despite skipping this week’s event the Wyndham Championship and the Barclays. Woods is still slated to play six times in an eight-week continue.
“This is in no way a knock on Barclays their new event next week or the new FedEx Cup series which I fully support,” explained Woods. “I just hope that this extra week of be will rejuvenate me for the final three playoff events and Presidents Cup. It is comfort my goal to win the FedEx Cup and I am hopeful this will give me the beat opportunity to finish the year strong.”
