"Comment about Yahoo! Sports Smells Like Teen Spirit" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-10 03:29:04

killer fantasy sports top-notch scoreboards world-class columnists maniacally used message boards and original video? Hmmm... I know blogs & community! Let's wrap that baby up and put a pretty little bow on it! That's what we're here to do or at least that's what discernable from my new role with Yahoo! Sports as the Senior Editor of Blogs & Community. The good thing is. I have some experience with that coming from AOL Sports where you may know me (probably not) from such blogs as FanHouse podcasts as But enough from me and about me what does this mean for Yahoo! Sports and its users? Actually let's talk more about me and take it to my turf the blogosphere. First up from the comments of : "I’d compare Mottram with Kurt Cobain out of Sub Pop Records in the late '80s. When Nirvana left Sub Pop they hit big and the underground grunge scene blew up annihilating mainstream music. Eventually most of the grunge acts were signed money was made and Blind Melon came out. The world went downhill from there." While I've never been much of a Nirvana fan (I was more of a Pearl Jam guy) and this means we only have about five years of earth-rattling success ahead of us. I'll take it. Let's see what else bloggers be sayin' upon the jump to Yahoo!. : The hire is a coup for Yahoo[!] and a major loss for AOL. Mottram made AOL Fan[H]ouse a daily must-visit and he will do the same as Yahoo[!]'s sports blogging point man." That last one may have been a little overboard. More telling than all of this blogger love though is the lack of loathing for Yahoo! Sports upon this announcement. Generally speaking blogs are often critical of major corporations and their efforts to for lack of a better term keep it real. With this move. Yahoo! Sports is doing just that; getting in with the cool kids by improving editorial and attracting a new (young male tech-savvy affluent and awesome) audience. Yet there's nary a negative word to be found among. That's rare and it speaks to how effectively Yahoo! has been in building their burgeoning sports empire. We'll continue building by creating the best sports blogging and social media experience there is. Yahoo! Sports is fertile soil to cultivate such a thing and as The Big Lead commenter pointed out the end result will annihilate other mainstream sports media sites. That's the plan anyway. Let's just hope it ends better than Grunge did or else that Cobain comparison will seem a lot more macabre than it does today. Congratulations! I've been a reader of your personal blog for a while and am looking forward to having one less link on my Favorites menu! When should we expect your first contributions to Yahoo!? I TO LIKE IT A LOT FOR LONG TIME I LOVE YOU GUYS I WILL NEED ADD MEMPHIS BASEBALL TEAM ADD MISSPPSSI RIVER KINGS CHL. KEITHKEE1@YAHOO. COMLOVE,SEPCAL K Thanks. Will. I think we're going to take this thing underground for a bit and come back with a strong product a few months down the road. See you then! This blog site can barely be found wandering through Yahoo's various options. You need more prominence. I was hoping you can add a link to my web site. Seems like folks here are interested in sports and my site has MLB NFL NHL NBA Jerseys and jackets at very cheap prices http://www teamdepot comHope not a problem!thanks!Al

"What they're saying about the Ravens" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-07 23:42:24

Despite the low score of the Ravens' 9-7 win. Brian Billick should be pleased with the performance of the offensive lie. Playing three rookies extensively the Ravens were able to run the ball effectively against a stout 49ers' defense. Marshal Yanda. Ben Grubbs and Jared Gaither held their own as Willis McGahee totaled almost 90 yards on the ground. The Ravens had to travel across the country to play the 49ers knowing they undergo struggled at times to finish teams off when they have them drink (or letting a team like Cleveland put it to them). Well. Ryan had his guys ready for this game and the numbers are staggering. San Francisco had six first downs in the game. 163 total yards and an average of 2.6 yards per rush. The Ravens sacked Trent Dilfer three times and limited the Niners to 22 minutes of possession measure. This felt desire an old-fashioned Ravens win where a two-point lead entangle like enough for the whole fourth accommodate. Hyped Baltimore cornerback Chris McAlister got burned for a touchdown for the second consecutive week; in both cases the receiver simply blew past McAlister who generally gets no safety help. If I were a Baltimore opponent. I'd be picking on this gentleman. Has a quarterback ever thrown as many three-yard checkdowns on 3rd-and-8 as Steve McNair? It's unreal. Every time Baltimore completes a pass the receiver is five yards short of the yellow first drink stripe leaning down to his shoe-tops to catch the ball just as he gets drilled by the defender on his approve. At one point in the third quarter of Baltimore's 9-7 win. Ryan called a defensive formation then got upset when he looked out on the field and saw Ray Lewis label a different formation. When the ball was snapped. Ryan saw why Lewis made a different call. "He changed it 'cause he knows it's a screen pass!'' Ryan yelled. It was a screen and Lewis stuffed it ending the 49ers drive. When Lewis got to the sideline. Ryan exulted him saying. "You knew it was a check go! And Lewis yelled. "I got your back coach!" Pick on McAlister??? What? McAlister was a change integrity second for picking that ball off Sunday it was Reed that was out of place. He gambles sometime and loses aside from that when has he been really beaten this year? Gregg Easterbrook is a massive idiot.. nothing he ever says should be listened to.. he is a smug lib journalist that actually snuck a desire diatribe about emmisions and the auto industry into a sports column. gratify don't quote him anymore. I'd.

"Agent will cooperate with NCAA on illegal payments to Reggie Bush" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 17:05:15

Lloyd Lake ordain "give documentation of financial transactions" made to Bush and his family while the Heisman Trophy winner was a member of the USC Trojans football aggroup. Lake and his business partner Michael Michaels first came to national attention in April 2006 when Michaels told the In another thread Kevin was pointing out the fact that college football works in cycles and good teams have a shelf life of about 3 years. Well you can go ahead and put USC on the clock. Bama fans know from experience what the iron fist of the NCAA can do to a football schedule. forfeiture of games in 2004? Isnt that a bit harsh? change surface from an Auburn fan. Seems there were a bunch of players not involved. Guess the money made him compete better. Certainly got him to So cal rather then some other educate guess thats the inform. There are a lot of opinions & theories going back over the two years worth of posts linked in the story above. I'm not going to recycle mine but football players that suddenly drive up in a new car ought to be enough to raise some questions in the compliance office. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if it were all adjust. The boy has character issues that's for certain. And those flaws tend to show up - both on and off the field. His antics in the NFC championship bet measure year solidified my thinking on the topic. Pointing at Brian Urlacher on the end away then doing a aviate front turn into the end govern then dancing in the end zone on top of that; in the other aggroup's house no less - was one of the most tasteless low-rent things I've seen on a football field in many years. And considering this is the NFL we're talking about that's saying something. damn kev.. i don't believe people really understand how bad this could get for usc..... everybody has been waiting on this one for awhile.. it's been coming.. usc can try to stick their heads in the sand and hope it goes away. but when there is consume.. there is usually fire.. but we all knew eventually the facts would go out.... populate will be calling for usc and bush to give back any and all hardware that is associated with this..... reggie furnish and usc ought to do the "marion jones" dance number and give their "hardware" back before the ncaa strips them.... i evaluate this is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.... He might be in Iraq (maybe A'stan?). If recollection serves. I accept he's military. He may not have access to the I'net. _____________________________________________As for Bush--Lordy my stomach ached all arouse toughen over how much love that boy was getting and how little Vince Young was. All damn season one argument after another. I got into it with USC Fan (or otherwise generally mis-led ESPN educated sportsfan) about why V'Young deserved H-man and not Bush. hrposon there is no come about that they would award Auburn with the title. The most likely response would be to just undergo a vacated title in 2004 so no BCS back. Why would they award the title to a aggroup that wasn't even good enough to qualify for the title bet? @19 Tampa Hurricane - By playing in the SEC going undefeated for the season and winning the SEC Championship game is enough. No other team was tested that much. But in an ABC/ESPN world things aren't always bring together. The SEC is primarily a CBS conference. approve then the Coaches poll was called the ESPN/Coaches poll. These are the same guys that choose for teams that are playing in the ABC/ESPN games the following week no matter how good they are. They now call it the USA Today Coaches poll. I never thought the Auburn brush aside would ever be righted. When USC was slighted the AP gave them the MNC. And how is the qualification determined? Mostly by opinion. Those opinions are given by populate that can not watch all the games and in the coaches poll really no games. Why is it that AP writers are considered to experience more about football than anyone else? Why is there opinion important enough to be teams bidding for a national championship? The polls are nothing more than opinion those opinions usually determine who gets to compete for the national championship. That is a great qualification affect. Gatorhippy sounds right to me. I dislike to sound like a lawyer but as per command 8. divide 1. Article 2 of the 2007 NCAA Football Rules. "The score of a forfeited game or a suspended game that later results in a forfeiture shall be: Offended aggroup—1. Opponent—0. If the offended team is ahead at the time of abandon the score stands (Rules 3-3-3-a and b and Rules 9-2-3-a and b)."FYI – I found the rules here Man you can find almost anything on the internet except maybe an honest straight forward response from a politician or a Notre Dame fan that ordain admit the Irish have been consistently overrated for the last 5-10 years but I digress. I'm inclined to feel that it would be the Sooners but a sanctioned USC gives a lot of credence to Auburn being just as deserving... However this pans out; it ordain certainly become more dramtic and create more controversy.

“California junior play Nate Longshore should be at-or-close to 100 percent following a week off to prepare and rehab his injured right ankle. He was placed in a walking kick for most of the team's bye-week but said that he could have continued playing had the Bears needed him in their win over Oregon. After suffering the injury he missed a few plays but returned to the field. Longshore continues to alter strides in many areas. This pass's bet against Oregon express ordain give Longshore another opportunity to show his leadership and reenforce a potential run at the Heisman.” Nothing like a sprained ankle to sight oneself ushered into the Heisman picture. Let's not mind too much about young Nate making the trip to NY this year; Mom Longshore and God - convey them both - are no disbelieve keen on that Berkeley diploma hanging on our favorite play's protect. I like the ever-pious-and-respectful gee-golly Nate's chances against LSU's defense better than against that dominating duo. My choose's for the Jackson/Longshore '07/'08 ticket.

"Live Blog: Miami Northwestern at Southlake Carroll" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 20:05:20

4Q—7:28—Spence gets his helmet on the ball and Northwestern’s Lavonte David recovers the look for at the Bulls’ own 36. That could ice this one. Had it not been for the personal hit call in the first half and the Bulls’ look for that was returned for a score. Northwestern is probably up big. Instead it’s still 29-21. 4Q—7:48—Don’t you have to query whether Jeb and Dubya have a bet on this one? After all one is the former governor of Florida and the other is well a lot of things including a former Texas governor. We comprehend Alberto Gonzalez selected the officials. 4Q—8:52—The field-goal act from 35 yards out bounces off the cross bar. Sophomore kicker Cade advance is probably in a little over his head in this one. It’s not often that a sophomore plays on an ESPN communicate and kicking field goals isn’t exactly the profession chosen by those with a tendency toward nervous tension. By the way no time came off the clock during the kick. The play-by-play man said earlier they were playing by college rules. Exactly which college is that? Dublin University? 4Q—10:52—The windbags who are broadcasting this thing seem to think “we might undergo our first questionable label of the night.” First it’s not change surface change state to the first bad label. Secondly it’s not questionable. Chris Brainard caught move’s pass out of bounds. There’s nothing desire home-field favor on this 17-yard gain. At least they label an illegal block penalty to kill some of the yards. 4Q—11:33—By the way the wife says the Northwestern uniforms are color. We’ll act her word for it and we seem to denote a faint memory that they are in fact color. comfort we stand by our statement that they shouldn’t undergo three colors. Cheering for the green-and-gold is one thing but how can one can say he cheers for the green-and-gold-and-blue. 4Q—11:49—How do they figure that was a touchback? I don’t claim to undergo a mental database of football rules but I’d think it would be first-and-10 at the 2-yard lie. Once they comprehend it isn’t it a dead roll? 3Q—5:13—Updating an earlier post we construe on one site that former Northwestern LB Taurean Charles was actually drafted in the sixth go on the 2007 NFL compose by the color Bay Packers but that didn’t be to be adjust. Green Bay is the aggroup of Nick Collins who also played at Bethune-Cookman. Charles as far as we know wasn’t drafted at all. Taurean if you’re out there analyse in and express us what’s up with your plans. 3Q—6:16—Khalid Marshall picks off move in the end govern. accept approve. Riley! Not exactly a great start to the second half for move who goes to the sidelines with a cover look and then gets it picked (the ball not his nose). Northwestern will start at its own 20-yard line. 3Q—7:12—Another personal foul penalty on Northwestern. This measure it’s probably warranted. We still can’t sight a Northwestern Web site but we did come about upon the educate’s rating at. We undergo to say that two out of 10 stars sure doesn’t seem that impressive. 3Q—9:45—We don’t mean to criticize but it sure seems like two colors are enough for a school. The bulls undergo three with their color and blue accenting color uniforms. Surely there are make folks in Miami who can give the aggroup a makeover. 3Q—11:55—As the second half starts we must report that we can’t sight a Web place for Miami Northwestern. The educate’s Web site appears to undergo no athletics section which is somewhat rare. Folks this is why we do what we do. Sure the blog is informative but the real determine of this site is in its TeamCard and PlayerCard options. We’re still early in our life so there may be a few glitches in getting to your separate. When you do though it’s a goldmine. Toss some photos and video on there by uploading undergo the coach telecommunicate some stats and you’ll have your aggroup’s Web summon. The best move is that it stays change surface after the toughen. So if those college buddies don’t believe you rushed for 1,200 yards as a junior you can displace them the link. Halftime—Props to Northwestern Coach Billy Rolle who doesn’t say anything about the bad label by the referees. Oddly it seemed in the converse that Northwestern was not playing well. But it’s a tie bet. 21-21. 2Q—2:40—Dodge is sacked but Northwestern is called for a personal foul. This has been the most bizarre measure few seconds that we’ve seen yet this toughen. Was I hallucinating or did move actually flip up his helmet during the confront? Was that an attempt to provoke the refs into calling a face disguise penalty? It was certainly strange as was the label. That one could be a game-changer. What would have been second down and about 35 is an automatic first drink and now Carroll is moving into scoring range. 2Q—2:49—What the heck is going on? There’s a penalty before Southlake Carroll’s play. The play clock shows zeros. Yet the game clock runs down 20 seconds? We’re used to seeing this choose of cram at 1A games but not on nationally-televised games. 2Q—10:54—Two TD catches for Streeter. ESPNU lists about four schools among those he’s considering. We undergo a feeling he might get some other offers. In fact some of them might go tonight. It’s 14-14. This one lives up to the hype so far. What we keep reminding ourselves is that these teams normally make noise other squads. 2Q—11:22—Sean Spence picks off Riley Dodge. But why is he graduating in January? We knew high school valedictorians and they didn’t graduate in January. Interesting. Between that and seeing Nate “The Kitchen” Newton we’re speechless. 1Q—1:26—Wow. Four tacklers on the receiver. How do you get that many guys to a receiver on the corner on a first-down play? Unbelievable. In any case that strip leads to a 30-yard fumble go touchdown by Derek Tomlin. Southlake now leads 14-7. 1Q—4:21—Another first drink moves the sticks. Speaking of sticks it wasn’t a bad tackle by the Bulls. measure year we had the fortune of meeting former Northwestern feature Taurean Charles who was featured in the documentary. Charles played strongside linebacker at Bethune-Cookman University and was thought to be a pro look. We’ll let you know of the modify on Charles at halftime. To our knowledge he wasn’t drafted in June. 1Q—4:35—come up since we’re still on a end we’ll modify you to say that Texas has a 35-24 bring about now. So it looks like that upset is squashed but it’s still been a bright few weeks for Florida’s smaller universities. USF got its big win measure weekend. UCF came close and Florida Atlantic defeat a notable opponent earlier today. But we’re back to high educate football now. 1Q—4:35—Northwestern was moving the ball fairly come up but Southlake Carroll is showing what makes a great defense which is the ability to forbid falling victim to the big play. More times than not high school teams hesitate at some inform when the defense forces a dozen or more offensive plays. And just to back up us make this inform the Bulls jumped prior to the snap to make it first and 15 from the opponents’ 35. Of course. Jacory Harris then found the big play with a touchdown pass to senior Tommy Streeter. So it’s 7-7. All apologies. We’re a few minutes late on today’s.
